Why Palin is a Complete Turn-Off (Politically)

Pentecostal - Most people buy into the religion thing, so I can usually get past it if it isn't a big part of who they are. However, there are those religions that are just ridiculous. If you belong to a religion that promotes speaking in tongues (complete phony BS), I'm going to be skeptical.

Creationism - I honestly think that anyone that promotes the idea that creationism should be given equal time in schools isn't very bright. I know that is harsh, but it's the truth.

Abstinence - Even though it is proven that promoting safe sex is more effective than promoting abstinence, she continues on. It's a reflection on the person when you are presented with facts, yet you continue to believe the contrary.

In sum, she might be a good public speaker, but she's not all that bright. I have a thing for smart people (maybe that's why I hate Bush) and it is kind of a requirement for my vote.

Gary no shit. I was gonna say this earlier but didn't see you around. Not sure if you ever seen me print this but i had an aunt who was the most despicable liar of a person you could ever meet. Today i take my mom out for awhile and we are shooting the shit and my mom tells me that Palin goes to the same type of church that my despicable aunt use to go to. i say to her isn't that the joint they speak in tongues. My mom said yes isn't that nice to know.

When I was younger at the age of 12 or 13 I was looking at different religions. I took it upon myself to attend some different churches to get a better understanding of what goes on in a house of worship.Those pentecostals freaked me out.Talking in tongues will scare you.I never thought that they would hurt themselves but I never dreamed that a lunatic might some day rule the free world.

I believe in Spriritual Gifts. I however do not believe in the speaking in tongues that goes on in some of the holiness/Pentecostal churches. I don't see there is a need for it now. In Biblical times, there was a need to spread the gospel. How often now though are you going to encounter people you can't speak to or at least someone can't interpret for you? If it's going to happen, it will be in the deep Amazon with some native tribe that hasn't been "civilized" yet. At that point, I beleive if there is a need, God will provide a way to communicate.

If you look up Spiritual Gifts, right after speaking in tongues comes interpreting.

1 Corinthians 12:27-31 TNIV


27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? My experience is that there seem to be a whole heck of a lot of speakers, but I've yet to met someone who can interpret the gibberish that I highly doubt is a gift now.

A friend was at a holiness type church with a girlfriend if I remember correctly. They go for hours, and he had to visit the men's room. As he was squeezing out of the cramped pew, he cracked the chit out of his knee which sent him to the floor shouting, "OH MY KNEE!!!"

Several of the churchgoers close to him followed his lead by chanting "OHMANEE!! OHMANEE!!" as they thought he was convicted and speaking in tounges.
