Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
We have all seen strange things in the NFL (Never Follows Logic) obvious bad calls (some even under review) stupid play call, etc......if you were the Texans GM and could get first pick and get Bush why would you win??

Think about it, not saying NFL is turning into professional wrestling but....I saw this post at another site and got to wonder...

I'm convinced I just saw my first NFL fix
If somebody doesn't investigate that last-second FG "attempt" perpetrated by the Texans, then I'm going to lose a lot of faith in this league.

Texans get a big special-teams runback on the last play of regulation, and a penalty gives them 15 more yards, and shot to tie the game from 31 yards out.

Snap good, hold good....and the kick missed by SO MUCH that you have to see it to believe it. Forget the uprights, I'm not sure this one stayed between the PYLONS. How do you miss the NET from 31 yards out?

The kicker started his "slump the shoulders and look disappointed" routine a little early. As in, before his foot touched the ball.

This kick missed by so much, the Titans' radio announcers thought it must've been blocked. It wasn't.

Other commentary on this "attempt":

...the worst kick we have ever seen.--Chris Berman

This wasn't even "wide left". This was like Ian Baker Finch in the British Open, hooking it two fairways over.--Stuart Scott

Hey, Tagliabue, if your teams are gonna lay down like this to try to get a Reggie Bush, then do what the NBA did, and introduce the Draft Lottery to the NFL.

I'm the guy who has spent his life saying that the idea of a fix is silly. But this one stinks.

I for one will be fading Houston the rest of the year...they have San Francisco breathing down their necks and play them in week 16....where do you want to play Reggie? Pull a Manning?

nah, not a fix. Kris Brown was just not fully recovered from running for that first down earlier in the quarter and the fake field goal attempt. Either tired or maybe he was injured. He fell pretty hard, and he ran a long way, and kickers aren't used to that.

Not saying there are never fixes, but I think they would involve the spread, and hit or miss, this one did not matter.

I don't think Dead Money meant a "fix" as in a Vegas fix...I think he meant it more as the high offices told the kicker to miss the kick.

Having watched the Texans every game this season. I can say this.
They are not a 1-12 team because of the talent.
They should have won at Cicny early in the season(Lost 16-10).
If Bradford catches pass late in game at Jacksonville then that goes to OT. The last 3 games were all there wins only to fall apart.
That would put them at 4-9 if they just win a 3 of the 5.

The problem is OFFENSIVE LINE is worst in the NFL, the team makes foolish pentalties ,and the front office makes bad decisions.

2 that stick out are trading up to get Jason Babin and trading to get Phillip Buchanon.
Both may get cut this off season.

They don't execute properly and that falls on the coaches.
Do you really think those players are saying boy I hope we get Reggie Bush?
HELL NO. most think he is just a college punk coming to steal someone elses job.

And by the way. All the rumors in Houston are they would trade the pick anyway and take AJ Hawk and get more picks for the right to get Bush.

Wow Keg, very interesting take. I wonder if they would pass on him. That would be unreal. My conspiracy theory was for the NFL to help Houston win and make GB lose to get Reggie there but that fell apart last week. :mj07:

Texans brought in Dan Reeves as consultant today.
I think this can only mean GM Casserly and coach Capers are gone.
Sounds like Reeves is your next GM and he will hire Gary Kubiak as Texans new coach.
Unless Reeves decides he wants the coaching job himself.

Rumors of Pete Carroll, but I dont think he leaves USC for the pros.

No way Pete Carrol leaves. He would be nuts!!

Side note- Do you think Carr is a legit NFL QB if he had a team? Youve seen a lot more than me probably, but I always thought he could be but its so hard to tell.

Now that the Jets and Packers are out of the running for the #1 pick i the draft, Hou can win one game and still get the #1 pick IF they lose the "Bush Bowl" in week 17.

that will be one fugly game with 2 teams trying as hard as they can to lose

Texans have to make a decision on Carr in a few weeks. They have to pay a $8M bonus to keep him next season. If they dont get #1 pick(Beat SF) then that decision will have to be made.
#2 pick might be high for AJ Hawk and #2 spot has less value. If Young and Leinart are both on board then tough call for Texans.

Carr has become aware of the sack and has taken away from his game. He has shown signs of getting worse instead of better. He is a great competitor on his upside.
The big issue for his is even when given time, he is off the target and is not a very accurate deep ball thrower when given the chance.

Is he worth a $8M bonus?? I say yes if you get Bush because you still need a QB.. No way if you sit at #2 in the draft.
McNair loves Texas and bringing Vince Young home would be ideal for him even though Leinart would be the better way to go.

Vince Young is a dumb as a bag of Rocks.
Not even sure he can spell rocks.

Texas simplifies things for him.Reading NFL defenses will be Vince Youngs biggest challenge.

I think he is a major project at QB.

McNair has already said Carr will be back.

An FWIW the tiebreaker for draft selection is strength of schedule, not head to head. Good chance that Texans could beat 49ers and still get top pick.

I think the Texans win 1 of their next 2. Both at home. I against terrible Arizona and 1 against a team they have always played well against the Jags(including this season).
Niners will not win again @Stl and @Jax.

So the Texans/49ers game would decide the pick.

McNair says alot of things. I he was so sold on Carr then why has the bonus not been taken care of as of yet. The only reason Reeves is here now is to evaluate the current talent and report to McNair because coach and GM are gone.

If Reeves says Carr is not the guy then guess what. Carr is gone.

I think Carr will be back for 1 more season, but like I said if they have #2 pick then tough decisions will need to be made.
