Nola wasn’t bad today but I have an unproven theory that he’s done in Philly after the playoffs last year.
the huge blown lead at SD was bad - then in that pivotal game 4, he got the hook and Alvarado (who had been the right move, in that spot, to that exact hitter) had his worst outing in 14 weeks inheriting a bases loaded no out jam.
i love analytics in mlb but moments like that can suck the life out of a player. Nola, the phils ace last yr, pitched himself out of trouble very admirably at times last season.
the right move, but that sequence one could say turned the world series around, and i’d rather blow the game than not even GET THE CHANCE to be “the ace.”
wouldn’t be surprised if he has a career worst year
