Back from Atlantic City this morning from a rather uneventful trip, but thats kinda what the plan was. Going out there I had in mind the following:
1. See what kind of jobs are available in my pay range
2. See what housing costs in the surrounding areas that are nice enough to raise kids (if any)
3. Find out if you really could or couldn't grind out any kind of steady profit at a live limit game in the 5/10 10/20 range.
Was dissapointed on all issues, couldn't really find a decent lead on jobs unless you want to work in a casino, and for less than I make now to start, the closest place to live that was decent was Cape May which is actually pretty nice, but not cheap by any means.
As far as grinding out a profit by playing tight ABC poker, well, you could probably do it in all honesty. Not much of a profit though and it's VERY boring. There was no 5/10 game so I played MOSTLY 4/8 and there are plenty of people chasing cards so that if you fold, fold, fold until you make a hand you will get paid off, sucked out on often enough to reduce the game to minimally profitable, but profitable nontheless.
Managed to play 57 hours total for the trip, I realize this is a very small sample but if you believe in the "One big bet per hour" theory then I should have made $456 which is still not enough to even consider a soft living let alone a full time career. I came in at a little under half that amount for profit so like I said, disssapointing on all fronts as far as the trip was concerned.
Looks like it's back to the real grind next week, just keeping the rat in the race...................
