Roger Clemens like they do Barry Bonds?

All his achievements rival Bonds in everyway. He is now confirmed to be a cheater.

Does he get an * next to his Cy Youngs, 20K games, & wins & K records?

Or will the double standard stay in place :shrug:

There shouldn't be any double standard... Performance enhancing drugs are banned.....

very little of the hatred of bonds comes from racism. most of it comes because he's an asshole to the media, in the media, and to fans.

doesn't matter what color he is, he's a dik.

Just hope Puljols is not on the list. I don't think Clemons will be treated like Bonds, because Bonds is a jackass, not because he is black. However, I have no respect for any of the cheaters.

dodger is right on target. Bonds has never given the media his attention, he also from all reports not a very nice guy. Therefore the media has enhanced him as a bad guy, because he has never bent over for the media.

But the way BB treated the media & fans is not why there has been a massive outcry for an * next to his records.

Now I just cant see the same outcry about Roger from the fans. I couldnt see folks holding up * symbols when Roger pitched/pitches. I cant see the hatred.

IF BB home run ball gets branded w/ an *, then all Clemens & everyone else who is on that lists w/ anything in Cooperstown should as well....

not going to argue with any of your points really. but barry was also treated like an ass because he acted like one and gave little remorse.

the most cherished record in baseball (next to gagnes 84 consecutive save streak:mj07: ) is the home run record. That's why the outcry.

Nobobdy will hold up a sign for Clemens because he will never pitch again. As for the other guys, no one really cares. Tejada, Sheffield, etc. are just guys with talent cashing paychecks.

Ask the casual fan what records and the numbers that Clemens hold and almost none can name it.

Ask the casual fan what records bonds broke and they can all at least name that he broke 755 because that number has been ingrated in their head somehow.

As for the asterisk, the only reason there is one on the ball is because some dude bought it and put it on there. Otherwise it would never have gone to cooperstown or gone in their period.

I did, but as a fan held out hope. I hope the report or future reports give an indication of when each player was on it.

I'd like to think that during that two year span of his save record that gagne wasn't on there. I'd like to think he took it in the aftermath and his injuries, but will probably never know.

Again, yes I knew, but again held out some kind of childhood fantasy that he wasn't. Baseball always meant a lot to me and my old man, and hopefully my children one day. I knew it was coming, but its still a sad day.

The only sadder day for sports in the future will be when it finally comes out that Jordan was actually kicked out of the league for gambling and point shaving when he decided to play triple a ball in the back alleys of arkansas.

And sun....what's with your Astros wasting away money on Tejada. Guys a complete bum.

I will also hate the dozens of guys who also took steroids but didn't get caught.

You have to figure the for every person that got caught, there were 2 smart enough to use cash, or keep it hush hush.

While I certainly do not think BB has been treated the way he has because of race--you all nailed it, he's an ass who does not have many friends in the game, or especially, the medie-- there already has been a double standard......wasn't Clemons implicated when Grimsley got arrested.....that should have been enough for the bloodthirsty, sensationalistic media to cream him...or at least raise doubts and/or suspicions...yet, it has not worked out that way and Rocket is conastantly feted on ESPN as the greatest ever......clearly EPSN and the media has been looking the other way with Clemons while they weren't doing the same with Bonds and even some other players.

Clemens was obvious. From 1985 to 2007 we were and are in the era that we are in. It was and is, just part of the game.... I was in a group of about ten , when a former MLB pitcher told us about Clem 3 or 4 yrs ago. I posted it here. The game will never be the game we knew.... Enjoy the games and remember to keep what you see in historic perspective..... There are so many players that took the stuff & they had to just to play the game, just to keep up, just to get paid. We witnessed the best that performance enhancing drugs had to offer the last 22 yrs. It was part of the game.
