Did you get my e-mail on Gwaltney? And sorry Scott he said in a interview in the long island paper he wanted to put a end to the story that he gave usc a verbal commitment, He said he never did and this was jan 4th 2005 fish wrap, he did talk very highly about them and the chances about winning 3 in a row or more and also said what I said because I have seen it all the time, that it was just avery long way from home, only school he has ever gave a verbal commitment to was wvu last spring which he un-committed(not un verbaled told you that was not a ncaa term):D about 5 weeks ago, he is in morgentown this weekend, top 3 schools no order are wvu, usc and ohio.st, I still think he goes to ohio.st, he will let it be known on feb 2nd where he is going but we here will know where before then I bet.

With contacts at wvu and ohio.st and Wilson's contacts at wvu and Scott's usc work like him or not he does a good job on usc stuff super fan, I like him just get over ran with usc stuff. we will know here first I will call that a lock.

If Scott would go into 2 conferences for us like he does with usc, we could all have some great info, this is not a joke. he digs deep to find some useful stuff, other fan stuff and power ratings from ss I can do with out but he does have some good info wish he would do it for 2 conferences like i said. It would be a + like him or not because he is super fan he does put in the hours to find some useful info.

And sorry mich.st fans and ucf fans you have no chance he said it will be one of the 3 schools I said, hell every player that knows he is going to get 5 trips will take one to fl just to go to that state.

Thanks for nice words Fletcher! I jumped on your Bradley play for NCAA HOOPS. Put my $200 winnings from the NCAA CFB contest on that play. Lets hope it turns out to be a winner! :) I got +1.

As for Gwaltney, I think he is coming to USC. Pete Carroll called Gwaltney right after the Orange Bowl game, 45min. later to be exact. USC also stopped recruiting the #1 RB in the country Stewart who all of a sudden dropped USC from his list. Right now I will be suprised if Gwaltney doesn't end up a Trojan. We shall see how this all ends up. I don't think ANYBODY can he 100% certain on anything in recruiting until LOI day.

This is what I been told about Gwaltney.

"Jason Gwaltney-yeah, he's a verbal, yes it will stick. He verbaled WVa, yup, but you do that when you don't have a better offer. He got one from USC and then only backed off publicly because he wants free trips and was afraid to lose them. So there's another out of state kid. USC goes far and got another. Sadly, he doesn't rally live up to his press clippings and while he may be good at one point, he's not moving White or Bush to the side and may be a "normal" recruit who waits his turn and plays his third year. He's a very good player, he's just not so elite that he'll be an immediate impact guy. Just kinda slow."

Lets see how it all shakes out. To be honest, I am not to high on him. USC is loaded at RB position so he is not super high priority. Although if USC doesn't get him, I think USC won't be taking a RB now for the last 2 recruiting class and that is not good. Not smart to skip a position 2 straight years but USC had ton of RB's already on roster. But you gotta ask why is USC putting all their stock in Gwaltney if he publicly says I am not going to USC??? Think about it, because USC is NOT recruiting ANYBODY else at that position.

He can play I have seen him 3 times live on yes network and msg thanks to dtv, but he won't start at either wvu or usc said that about a month ago, that is why i say ohio.st, the paper said that osu told him he would come in and be a main player as a fresh, the 5 trip thing is abused so much hell i got my 5 in but i made them to places where they were tight for me 2 trips to state of fl , 1 trip to jmu in virginia, 1 to tenn and 1 to miss.st, all places were real trips for me. but ucf no way for him he just wanted to be in orlando for some reason. Grades are a 2.77 and found this out sat 830 he will really need to take that again which he is, I never took a player who was not over 1000 on sat, did early on and learned the hard way not worth it most of the time. He has good speed but not a blazer 4.62 , nice power and can run inside. he really needs to do better on sat , also heard grades were dropping he could end up as a none qualifier if he does not watch out. He will be in that hs all-star game on national tv think the army runs it. but will be shown national think espn has the rights to it. No way he starts at usc IMO and I know he won't at wvu first year so maybe the osu saying he will start might be the key. Hands can use some work but he can run with power and quick to the hole, that gpa and 870 sat scares me.

Fletch-

He didn't commit on Saturday on national tv...Rich has home visit on Tuesday and Wednesday he is supposed to have announcement on ESPNEWS....From what I am hearing...our coaches are confident.

Looming NCAA sanctions in Columbus are a concern of his :)

I agree and I did watch the game. Gwaltney was the best RB and he ran behind a crappy east OL. Still made plays.

3 best players at the game were clearly Jackson (USC), Sanchez (USC) and that DL Miller (Texas I think)

Those were the biggest guts I have ever seen from a high school all star game. WOW! Kids sure are getting HUGE! Not real healthy.

I think Gwaltney is coming to USC. WV coaches should be worried, not confident. Carroll tells most of his out of state recruits to keep quiet until close to signing day. Hope he ends up at USC because I prefer the big powerful RB's over the speedy backs.

Scott I get top recruiting papers because I still dabble in baseball and athletes, and got my fax today and he was not even on usc's top 6 list??? And this was sent out at 255 pm pst time and this is the best f the best ,you can't buy it unless you are a ncaa card holding coaching member which i am because i still pay my dues each year, what is up with that??? I was shocked by that.

Not sure if I understood your post right but are you saying you know USC coaching staffs rates as the top 6 recruits? If you do, COOL! Did not know they share that stuff cuz I do know USC staff does their own evaluations on recruits and they look at over 300 guys every year. I know not too many coaching staffs do their own evaluations as extensive as USC.

As for Gwaltney not making USC's top 6 list. I believe it. Let me take a guess at USC top 6 rated recruits. (in no particular order)

QB Sanchez
WR Turner
LB CUSHING
LB Maualuga

Those 4 I am 100% are on that top 6 list.

WR Jackson???
DB Thomas???

#1 recruiting priority for USC was LB.

USC is loaded at RB so Gwaltney is not a HUGE BLOW if he doesn't come to USC.

That said, Gwaltney announces on Wed. and I am hearing he has been a USC verbal all along like I preached. Expext Gwaltney to be a Trojan!

Question about your inside sources. Gwaltney supposedly has "ELIMINATED" West Virginia. You both have been preaching to know WV inside and out etc. Gwaltney said its between OSU and USC, although Fletcher you said OSU was likely destination too.

Scott-

You need to quit believing everything posted on a message board or AOL chat.

JGs family does not want him 3K miles away. His brother is already commited to WVU...He is making yet another unofficial visit to Morgantown with him on the 28th. As I type this, WVU's recruiting coordinator Herb Hand is sitting with JG in his LI high school and then they will head to his house and will close the deal. WVU has recruited this kid since he was in 9th grade. This kid knows where he will get the rock immediately and will be the center of the offense. It doesn't hurt that WVU has finished in the top 5 in rushing the past few years.

It was a nice late effort by the big boys USC and OSU....but, when it is all said and done..this kid will be a Mountaineer.

From Lemming's chat at ESPN this afternoon:

Aaron (Payne, OH): Mr. Lemming, What is the latest on Jason Gwaltney? Is he USC or Ohio State bound? Thanks.

Tom Lemming: (2:02 PM ET ) During the week in San Antonio he was ready to commit to USC and then OSU came into his mind and he pulled back. He now says they are 50-50 and won't make his decision just yet

Tom Lemming is a joke.

THIS WE DEF. CAN AGREE UPON. This guy is wrong so many times and reports bad info. This is the same guy who selected the EAST/WEST all stars and didn't include/invite the #1 DE in the country, Averal Spicer who is coming to USC. What a joke.

Scout sponsors the event, scout has Spicer #1 DE, and Lemming doesn't invite him. LOSER!

Gwaltney is coming to USC! I am 80% confident. 20% of me is worried distance/family pulls him away.

Wilson says WV is major player yet many say WV was eliminated. Lets see if Wilson knows his stuff!

New York running back Jason Gwaltney has decided not to make any decisions this week, and will instead announce his college choice on February 1st on ESPN.

Gwaltney, who is considered to be one of the best running backs in the country, claims West Virginia, USC, and Ohio State as his favorites.

"They're all even," Gwaltney said. "I just want to go somewhere where I can make the most impact as a freshman."

One factor that may play a role in his decision is that his family is hoping he chooses a school that is somewhat close by.

"They don't want me going too far from home," Gwaltney said.
