The first game of a series is always difficult to cap. Therefore, I will use the following significant trends to come up with the winner tonight:

*The Heat are 6-16-1 ATS in their last 23 games following a S.U. win.
*The Heat are 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
*The Heat are 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 vs. NBA Central.
*The Heat are 2-11-1 ATS in their last 14 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
*The Pistons are 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 playoff home games.
*The Pistons are 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 playoff games as a favorite of 5.0-10.5.

I'm sure Sun Tzu or some other hater will come into my thread today and state that these trends mean absolutely nothing at this point in the season. I'll just keep posting winners to help people make money while these critics remain MIA with their winning plays.

Consider the source of the critiques. If they would post a winner once in a while then they can critique.

Wise, you know I'm not being a critic, but I'll state my thoughts.
My concern is whether the Pistons will be ready after a draining series with Cleveland.
Also, Detroit has been struggling offensively, but I don't think Miami plays as good defensively as the Cavs. However, let's say Detroit gets 85-88 points, can they hold Miami below 83?

I'm leaning towards the Pistons, but I haven't decided yet. Good Luck and keep producing winners.

D, I welcome your thoughts. The Pistons will be ready tonight. You're going to see an entirely different Pistons team in this series. Cleveland did Detroit a huge favor. The Cavs humbled the Pistons by pushing them to the brink of elimination. Detroit will ride the emotion of game seven into tonight's contest. The Heat are well-rested, but they have been off too long. There is a great chance you will see some rust on their part tonight. Athletes are creatures of habit, they like routines. Miami has lost its rhythm of playing a game, and then having a day or two off before playing another game. Furthermore, I don't think Miami matches up well with Detroit. The Pistons won the regular season series 3-1, including a 13 point victory in Miami. That is a statement game that I look at very closely. Wade will get his points in this series, but Prince will make him work his ass off at both ends of the court. Ben and Rasheed will do an adequate job of defending the Diesel. Riley will be counting on Walker, Payton, Posey, and Williams to give Wade and Shaq the support they need. Posey and Williams don't know what this big stage is all about. Walker played great against New Jersey, which means he will probably be a non-factor in this series. He is one of the most inconsistent players in the league. I think Detroit will win this series 4-1. Miami will win one at home, but Detroit will not lose at home. Don't fade the Pistons in this series, they will regain the form that made them the best team all season long.

Great write up Wise & Wiser. I like the Prince vs. Wade matchup as Prince has a lot of height. Matchups definately favor the Pistons, but 5.5 is still a lot of points.

Not a lot of points when you consider the rust factor. Home court is worth 4 points in the NBA. I actually see a lot of value in Detroit tonight. Best of luck to you!

I need to advise of something

I need to advise of something

Did you consider this ?

NJ beat Miami in the season series 4-1 and Miami did not match up well with them either.

Results Miami 4-1 Playoffs.

It is nice to think your team will benefit from a 7 game series and physical pounding from Cleveland.

Miami will be fresh and ready to go. Best of Luck.

Thanks for the advice hurricanes6! The Heat are a bunch of pretenders. Detroit will remind everyone who the best team in the NBA is. Chauncey will abuse Jason Williams when he is on the floor. If Williams plays "Rip" instead, same result. "White Chocolate" doesn't play a lick of defense!

As Wayne pointed out, winners cover in the post-season. If you're going to beat Detroit in the Palace, you must bring your A game. Your offense must be clicking on all cylinders. How in the world are the Heat going to do this when they've been off for more than a week? I just dropped another five bills on the Stones. Make it a dime play for me!
