May 10 9:13am Basketball - Pending 55.00 to win 50.00
1. Basketball - New Jersey Nets - team total Under 91 (-110)
for the entire game held on May 10 at 7:00pm [pending]

The Heat should come out with a chip on their shoulder after being embarrased in Game 1. They allowed the Nets to shoot 48% from the field and were never really competitve--until Richard Jefferson went out with an ankle inury. He is doubtful for tonight's game against Miami and the Nets have struggled this season without Jefferson. They are 0-4 and average just over 81 pp/g w/out him in the lineup this season. New Jersey had 84 points after the third quarter on Monday but finished with only 100. Whether it was complacency or just poor fourth quarter shooting, they were clearly slowed down w/out Jefferson.

1. Basketball - Phoenix Suns - spread -4 (-110)
for the entire game held on May 10 at 9:35pm [pending]

The Clippers did everything right in Game 1 -- except come away with a victory. They shot 59% from the field, out-rebounded the Suns by 5 and even got a great effort from Corey Maggette off the bench (20 pts, 5 rebs in 28 minutes). One reason Maggette was able to come in and be so effective was the fact that Kaman doesn not match up well with anybody on the Sun's. The Clipper's were forced to put Brand on Diaw, allowing the game to become more of a track meet, which is the pace the Suns want.

The Clippers are saying all the right things, how they need to slow the game down, make it more of a half-court game. But in five games against the Suns the total has averaged 220.8 points. Simply put, the Suns force their pace and the Clippers have no choice but to keep up. Phoenix has scored over 100 points in four of the five games against LAC this season and has won 3 of those 4. The sole setback came in a game in which they led at the half but fell victim to an uncharacteristic 16-pt 3rd qtr. In Game 1, the Suns not only did it form long range (12 of 27) but they were able to outscore the Clippers in the paint 48-42, even with Elton Brand nailing 18 of 22 shots.

The Suns have too much balance and are playing too well as a team, esp. at home in the playoffs, as evidenced by six Suns in double figures Monday night. The Suns are 28-11-1 ATS when they have scored at least 110 points, including 4-0 in the postseason. When you have as many weapons as they do, it`s hard to keep them all under wraps. Six Suns are averaging double figures in scoring in the playoffs.

The Nets had me :scared . I was certain they were going to :142hump: me with a few garbage time baskets. Having Jefferson play 35 minutes in a blowout game was a real head scratcher. You think they would want to rest his ankle a little more, especially with the quick turnaround. Oh well, GLTA Phoenix backers tonight.

P.S. New Jersey, thanks for the :weed: money!! :thumb:
