Is there some easy fix to get a computer to play youtube, videos, etc.? My son says he was asked to set Windows media to watch something, and it changed other things that make nothing play. Not a virus or anything, acts like it goes into video, then just see the hourglass spin. Can anyone help please? Thank you. If you open Windows Media Center it says "not responding", with a blank screen. It asks if you close the program, you may lose information. Or, other choice is "wait for the program to respond"

So....if he goes to Youtube, clicks on a link and Windows Media pops up? I hope that isn't the issue as that should never happen.

Best thing to do in this situation is have him download VLC from here http://vlc-media-player.en.softonic.com/

.....and install it. If it asks him to use VLC to open all media - tell him to do so.

Also, Windows Media Player sucks so bad. Tell him never to use it again. Stick with VLC. It is free and way better.

This should work.

Jack, that worked. Must go back to original Alienware settings. Regardless, thanks Nick, and I will pass that along to him.

Yep, he does X-Box Call of Duty and something called Rift on his laptop. He is pretty damn good, but keeps his grades up as well, so I am fine with it. Thanks again.
