Hey Wineguy I'm heading to Atlanta for the ball games this w/end. Any input as to where to head after or before the games Friday and Saturday. Maybe a Sports Bar or a Brew Pub. I believe there is a good local brewery that sells their beer in supermarkets across country but can't remember the name. Does the underground Suck? We are staying at the Days INN downtown(I guess a few miles to the park). I guess parking at the hotel will be the best bet @ $15 a Day?? Thanks for a reply if you have time!! Steve

PS i just read some bad things about Downtown @ night, should we try and stay in midtown or somewhere else. Thanks What about Steamhouse Lounge?

Hey Steve,

Been really busy this week and not on here at all. Probably too late for you. The Days inn downtown is really not in a great area, but you can go some places. There is more in Midtown, but still not convenient for you. There is a sports bar by you called Stats, and a new Dantanas down there that I have not been to. Sorry for not much help, but really don't hang out down there much for just the reasons you mentioned. It is somewhat safe, just be aware of your surroundings and those around you. Many panhandlers as well. Good luck and have fun!! Steamhouse loungeis a good place in Buckhead, one of the few original bars left there. Great oysters!!

I was at the closing of SteamHouse two years ago in Buckhead. It reopened in Midtown. I'm friends with the Dantanna's owner. It is a fine establishment located in the CNN center at Philips Arena.

Stats is a great bar as well and will have the UFC fight Saturday night. It is a dressy sports bar. There are several restaurants that have opened across from stats and they are pushing Marietta street now as the new up and coming area. If you want a cool night time bar, try Glen Hotel located a 5 blocks or so up from Stats on the same side. It has a 10 story rooftop bar overlooking centenial park and the women are very nice to look at. The is a cigar shop across from Stats as well.

Also their is a new W in Midtown and some pretty cool clubs if you are looking for trendy.

Thanks guys, we moved to courtyard Marriott in Midtown. Wow can't get there from here w/the 14 st Bridge closed. Went to Steamhouse yesterday and will be there today for a pregame sox party(new one on spring st)I will try Stats tonight or i heard Teco Mex or something like that is a good sports bar(used to be stool pigions) The ballpark is in the middle of nowhere and they could have done a better job of transportation to and from. Thanks again!!

Did not realize Steamhouse had moved. :mj07:

Shows you how much I keep up with the nightlife. I loved the old Steamhouse, sat on the outdoor patio many a night around that tree growing up through the middle. Buckhead is just not a place I venture to anymore, want to remember the "old" Buckhead.

It was a favorite of mine as well. The lobster bisque was incredible!
