Just wanted to say a word about this game, b/c I love to talk about crappy college rules and how they don't ever change them.

Minnesota was up by 3 with 30 seconds left. 4th and 1 from their own 20. (The play where the punt was blocked).
Ok, now this strategy is risky since they were deep in their own territory but it still shows the rule, and I've seen Michigan seal up a bowl win by this happening, though maybe not on purpose.

4th and 1. Go for it. Run the ball. Tell all your players to hold. You pick up the first down. Offensive holding, 10 yard penalty. The defense has to take it b/c if they don't its a 1st down. Ref marks off the yardage, starts the clock. Tick tick tick. Ball Game. Minnesota wins.

I saw Michigan do it in a bowl game a few years back. Prob. didn't hold on purpose, but they had 4th and 3 with about 37 seconds left. They were in "no man's land" around the other team's 35. Didn't want to kick a FG, didn't want to punt. They ran a play, got the 1st down, but there was holding. Ref marked it off, started the clock. Game over. Really amazing.
