I'm down at Monmouth betting on the ponies all day tomorrow. Here's what I played tonight.

BEST BET: HOU -4.5

PHO is just coming off a five game in eight days road trip (0-5) on Tuesday, then they play Houston at home and go back out on the road for three more. If nothing else all of those games means very little practice time.

PHO is a mess: they haven't been the same since Coach Cynthia Cooper resigned on 6/26. Under Cooper they were 5-3 with all three losses on the road; since she left they're 1-6.

The loss of Brandy Reed hurt PHO leaving Jennifer Gillom is their only significant scoring threat.

In their last 2 games PHO got left behind by NY and WA from the opening tip. They somehow managed to cover vs NY, but then that same NY team lost to DET today. And that was a tired WA team without Holdsclaw.

HOU is playing the best ball of any team in the WNBA right now. They have developed a good O to complement their #1 D. Swoopes is playing at the top of her game.

This is the first of five on the road for HOU after two games in just seven days at home. The Comets are coming into this game much more fresh.

HOU has already beaten PHO in Houston by 5 and 2 this season. But those games were before the resignation of Cooper and before their recent 0-5 road trip ended any playoff hopes. PHO ranks #4 in terms of home advantage but IMO this HOU team (7-2 on the road) shouldn't have any trouble with blowing out the Mercury.

Regular plays:

SAC PK (try to get some points tomorrow if you can)

CLE is not the same without Rizzoti who is now on the injured list; SAC is #2 in terms of home advantage

LA -5

Sparks are one of the top two teams in the league, SEA will probably be up at the half and do their usual second half fade.

Uh, this game. Two terrible teams in what promises to be a terrible matchup. Dont know where the line will open here, though I would probably favor Cleveland on a smaller line.

Well the more I look at it the more I like Cleveland. They have been toughening up on D lately, and even with Rizotti out they have been competitive in most of their games. Keep in mind the Sacremento team they are playing is 2-14. I dont know what that stat meant that they are #2 in home advantage, but they only have two wins and are 2-4 at home. I will take Cle here when the lines open I will be back with the play.

Plays right now:

Cle -1.5
Cle s/u
Cle H1 -1

Others are too close for me right now Houston and LA both giving 6. Will get into these more.

TJ (& others): I need to make up a little on my WNBA plays because of the last loss I had for 2 units. I am not willing to chase but am asking if Cleveland is a worth while play right now or wait till later. I don't have time to cap this morning's game and do trust your guy's opinions. Could you talk me into or not into on this game?

If I had to 1-10 this game, I would put Cle -1 at about a 6.

Sacremento is just not very good. I dont care that they have won their only two games at home, they have won only two games.

Cle takes this game by 8.

And yes, GO BRAVES!
