for those of you not familiar with the terriers, wofford is a little party school for rich kids in spartenburg, sc. biggest claim to fame is that average sat (1241) exceeds enrollment (1100). second year head coach mike young epitomizes loyalty, having served 13 years as a terrier assistant before becoming top dog.

one of coach young's objectives was to upgrade wofford's nonconference slate, and he has succeeded to the point that wofford's out of conference schedule last year was the toughest in the nation by average rpi. funny thing on the way to the slaughterhouse is that wofford has shown the ability to compete with the majors on their home court. during last years hardest rpi run, wofford covered @ nc state, sc, clemson and won outright @ va tech. terriers only failed to cover @ w va (lost by 10 geting , auburn (lost by 18 getting 16), and va (lost by 22 getting 16). this year, they have already covered @ tennessee and clemson, actually leading the tigers late in the game. besides texas, they have upcoming games @ vandy, dayton and minnesota.

texas is set to face no. 7 arizona in msg on tuesday, and is likely looking ahead to this marquis revenge matchup in light of tonight's sure win. rick barnes is friendly with young as a resulf of his days at clemson, and seems in an unlikely spot to turn the dogs loose. all factors appear to support a terrier cover with the 25 point spot.

i won't touch this game tonight but if i were to, i would most likely grab the points.

2 ways to look at this game:

Texas jumps out to a large lead, lets starters rest while Wofford starts canning 3's to catch up and get the backdoor cover in trash time.

Or Texas' bench players wear down Wofford and continue racking up points. UT's worst five are probably better than Wofford's best five.

tough game to cap. Texas is certainly capable of blowing this team out or looking ahead to Arizona. GL

buddy, i've got to tell you, we're some lonely souls out there playing wofford, line is now up to +27. didn't mean to imply coaches familiarity was a major factor in the play. rather, i've followed wofford last couple of years, particularly since young took over, and consider them a well-coached and disciplined team. they've got some decent depth this year, and a couple of players that could at least letter in austin. they're road tested and won't be distracted by the venue. clearly texas will put on pressure with superior talent, but just believe the terriers have the poise to at least not self destruct, and play though to the buzzer. i think those qualities are enough for the cover in this situation, with texas distracted by arizona on the horizon. we shall see.

i have also decided to play the over 160, turning the wofford play into an "overdog" play. terriers need to score 67 points to assure the push here. if distraction or indifference play any roll at all in this game for texas, it will most likely be on defence. the over play also kinda hedges against a longhorn 100+ point outburst, or maybe it could be i just put too much thought into this game.

adding a play on w ky +11. nigel dixon is going to cause some problems inside for the cardinals, especially the way they were handled by iowa. also, with the game being played in nashville, espect to see a predominently hilltopper crowd. w ky on the road is no bargain, but that appears to be reflected in the line.

Longhorn season ticket holder and will be going to the game. Will be pulling for the over. I'm scared UT wins by 30 or more.
