I am hammering the tigers.

-155 is scary low IMO. Maybe it's for a reason, but I would be shocked to see the Tigs lose. I may unload.

Steep price not low IMO. Verlander best pitcher in baseball but Cain top 5. Vogey=Scherzer and Fister>MadBum.

Pen edge to the Giants and their lineup has been coming through. I'd make the true line at 130-135 ish.

Biggest issue for the Tigers is facing two left handed starters. They have struggled all year versus lefties, last week's bludgeoning of CC was unusual.

IMO Zito has a reasonable chance to have a great start in Game 1 vs JV. If he does, and SF wins, it will be very difficult for the Tigers to win the series.

I'd say MadBum>Fister, but I agree Fister is currently pitching better.

I think the mental edge might be with the Giants, having momentum, staying at home, not having the pressure Detroit has having spent a lot of money and being in win now mode, home field advantage, Detroit being swept some years ago after waiting several days to play St Louis seems like this situation.

I like the Tigers team overall better, but I think SF has a better chance than most people are giving them.

Concur, Giants have a lot of confidence after going 6-0 in elimination games which might be a record for 2 rounds. Zito isn't anything special, but he'll be yanked the 1st sign or trouble. Verlander is awesome, but still a steep price vs. another SP whose team has won his last 13 starts!

Hi Jord,

First, I think the Tigers are the best team, better hitters, the best pitcher, adv sf in bullpen, and agree w/thought that layoff gives an edge to Sf, they r hot w/3 inarow...
Don't think Det can go 0-2 in sf and win series tho... do you?

I already played tigers to win it all after they beat yanx in gm 2, only pays 2-1 (played 250 to win 500)

now I can take SF to win at @ +160.... guarantee some $$ no matter what, but I still think Tigers r best team... hmmmmm:00x32

possibly play sf to win it all now for say 150.... and if they win gm 1, then add to Tigers for series n get better price?

so many possibilities

taking mom for cataract surg this morning, will be reading phone when possible, so hoping for some great insights! gltus!

LOB, I wish I had more insight for you, but i don't.I believe Verlander and Scherzer to be the 2 best pitchers in the series. Detroit has both of them. They are both power pitchers, and power pitchers tend to win in the playoffs. I also trust Fister as a big time clutch pitcher. Sanchz seems to be coming around at the right time too.

Having JV and Max pitching in game 1 and 2 will alleviate any rust the batters incur. It is Detroit's time. They have better starting pitching and better hitting.

The Giants don't get their 2 best pitchers throwing until game 3. And, to me Cain looks a little flat, and quite hittable.

I don't see how the Giants win this in 7... I really don't. I think they win 8 out of 10 7 game series with these matchups

The giants are def the 'hip' and 'interesting' pick to have here. It will give the people the right to say, "I called it. they have heart," or whatever.

It's just not the right side. Detroit is flat better and will win this setup 80% of the time IMO

I'm finalizing my play for tonight right now, but it is hard to find a reason to back the over here.... especially if you like Detroit.

Jord,
I agree w/sf being the "hip" play... winning the last 3gms gives the public perception that they're unbeatable... what have u done for me lately kinda thing.

But they forget that the Tigers swept the Yanks to get where they are too.

I love Verlander and Scherzer, agree that they are the best 2 sp's in this series.

Zito's last gm @ Stl was the Zito of old, when he's spotting his curves the way he did that night he's incredibly tough.... which is why SF signed him to all that money yrs back, but it's not like he's that way all the time. If he's that way tonite, it'll have to be an "under".

I like Tigers for Series (already played).... will play Tigers 1st 5 tonite and under 1st 5 for less and Tigers for game.... 9th inning can get hairy when bp's come into play, maybe Verlander goes the distance?
Will also play Tigers for game, and even some r/l...

whatever U play... Best O'Luck laddie!! :toast:

Echo a lot of these sentiments. I am a huge Giants fan, and I'm not quite sure how they have done it.

Vogelsong is the only pitcher who looks sustainably "on". And even there he is a 6-7 inning type guy, max
Cain has been average since his perfect game, though he is capable of pitching above his stuff when he needs to.
Zito is Zito and is generally more likely to have a blow up start than a magical start like against the Cards. He has below average control, and I think his good starts are one's where he is just plain lucky.
Bumgarner probably has a dead arm.
Lincecum is a mystery and realistically average at best right now.

Detroit pitchers are all on. Verlander is a beast.

Giants bullpen is average, but pitching well right now.
Detroit bullpen is average, and is pitching like that.

Probably better defense for Giants. Probably better hitting from Detroit.

I pray for a Giants sweep, but I see a 4-2 Tigers series win.

That being said, I made the same analysis against the Reds and Card. So wtf.

Jord, What's your gameplan on the series wager? I'm in the same position. I'm hoping this somehow goes to 7 so I can buy out of it, but I don't see that happening now.

Think Det takes 2 of 3 at home?

Call me stubborn, Kirk, but I still think Detroit wins. I'm not doing anything except putting more on Detroit at this price. If they win game 3, I like them in 4 and 5 too.

If it goes 7, I will prob buy out of some because the Giants just seem more clutch
