Worst MLB players and other stuff

This isn't handicapping but wanted to open a discussion with the MLB season winding down.

Who do you think are the worst players in the league right now and have no business being on an active MLB roster right now? Key word, right now.

Also a couple questions:

1. When a guy has an obvious season ending injury, why are they putting him on the 15 day DL?

2. When a guy gets sent to the minor leagues, what is the process like. Do they grab him immediately after a game, the next day etc, was always curious.

Wihtout further adieu my list:

As you can tell, I am pretty bored, they closed Golden Corral early tonite, and I am restless for Shoney's breakfast. How about a list of 'name' players that have recently left the game, whether retirement or disapearing, or maybe in the minors somewhere:

Junior Spivey
JT Snow
Kevin Brown (was he on the juice, his career fizzled pretty quickly)
Alex Ochoa (Big Juice)
Jeff Bagwell
Juan Acevedo
Terry Adams
Tike Redman
Matt Anderson
Bobby Higginson
Rolando Arrojo
Carlos Baerga
James Baldwin
Larry Walker
Dante Bichette
Bret Boone
Pat Borders
Ben Grieve

I remember a couple years ago when Peter Gammons had Bobby Crosby as his preseason AL MVP. :com:

I know Suckson has never hit for good avg, but he has been abysmal this year.

Has anyone but me noticed that there are maybe like 20-25 players on pace to hit 30 HR this year?

Last year there were 33. There were 11 with at least 40. By my guestimations we may see 4-5 tops, RBI #'s also down for a lot of guys as well.

Ray Durham has been stealing $$ for years. Worst 2nd baseman of all time, on the field and at the plate.

Russell Branyan this guy has been playing since 1998 i believe, whiffed every third time up and still gets chances w/ clubs. THis guy has been a 10 year MLB?

I disagree w/ Kevin Brown. I know he never lived up to his big contract but he used to be the premium pitcher in baseball. His marlins days he was a legit number 1. He dominated for a few years. I think ppl thought he stunk bc he tried to play the end of his contract out when clearly he should not of even been in baseballl.

I disagree. He is having a HORRIBLE season this year. Does not deserve to start.

That being said, previous to this season he has been much better than league average, stat-wise, compared to other second baseman.

In fact last year he was a top-5 second baseman. And the previous two years he was just slightly above average. But still a valuable player.

Defensively, he is so-so to below average, no argument there.

I fully agree with much of what you've said. I didn't expound enough on my thoughts on his game. When the WSox 1st put him at 2nd, he was going to be a real 2nd basemen. He decided to bulk up big time which limited much of what they needed him to do in the field and on base. At the plate he swings for the fences. Has never made enough of what was monster speed when he 1st came up. He also can't cover the ground he once did or turn as many plays. The WSox moved him years ago and I don't follow his game closely, but I would think a player of his bulk may have more injuries as the years move on.

Basically, somebody should have made a decision to play him at another position and have him hit at another spot in the lineup. He's a very weak 2nd base IMO. 2nd basemen (normally) aren't suppose to hit for power or drive in runs as their number one priority.
