[h=1]Former Ravens tight end Todd Heap accidentally kills 3-year-old daughter[/h]
Todd Heap tragically killed his daughter Friday in an accident at the family's home in Mesa, Ariz.
Heap, who was a two-time Pro Bowler for the Ravens, was moving his truck in the driveway when he struck and killed his 3-year-old daughter.

Mesa police said, via the Arizona Republic, the accident occurred about 3:45 p.m. She was later pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.
Police say Heap exhibited no signs of impairment.
Heap was a first-round pick from Arizona State in 2001 and spent his first 10 seasons with the Ravens before finishing his career with a two-year stint with the Cardinals. Heap, who caught 499 passes for 5,869 yards and 42 touchdowns, was inducted into the Ravens Ring of Honor in 2014.
Police will continue to investigate the girl's death. She was the youngest of five children Heap has with his wife, Ashley.

How terrible. And it happens all the time unfortunately. Its happened to two people I know over the last few years. I can't imagine dealing with that.

It can happen to anyone - if anything, the deaths of these children make me very aware and dangers in and around our house. I will be thinking of these tragedies often to remind me to think of all possibilities and outcomes.

Incredibly sad. Just horrible to read these stories. You're right, we must remind ourselves to be vigilant especially when it comes to the fragility of children.

Can't you back over someone when you back into the driveway? This makes no sense to me.

I never got that either. No offense HD but people that back into their parking space piss me off. It's well documented here.

Hudson Valley area.....NY
What a tragedy.....feel so bad for Heap and his family......I don't get backing in parking spots...driveways I know are different.....but backing in....its so popular now...here in Austin on so many streets you have to back in...I think on Congress or 1st street everyone has to back in on the street...I waited for someone in front of me to back in.... she failed the 1st 2 times..finally she got in...but I couldn't pass her and there were about 6 cars behind me waiting.....I know leaving and pulling out is a little easier but the time it takes to back in negates all that...in driveways its different...I just bought a brand new Subaru....love the rear screen in the car....still turn around because I don't trust the yellow and red lines yet....just have to get used to it...my wife keeps saying you can go back further....think most cars of the future will have that as standard....
