Was shocked at the WI line for Nebraska this weekend.... WI ranked #7, Nebraska #8 by the "experts"....

Yet, WI is a 9.5 point fav? Really?

I'm a huge Bucky fan, but I'm shocked at this line. Would have thought the teams were basically even, and WI gets 3 points for home field. So, I assumed it would be Wisconsin -3. Maybe -3.5 since it is a night game.....

Is this further proof that the college polls, and the folks that vote in them, have no understanding of college football?

Or, is the Vegas line WAY off on this one? (they usually aren't too far off on big profile games like this one).....

Whiskey 3-1 ATS with Avg margin of victory 40pts...They bury teams once they get them down. Their coach definitely does not believe in the mercy rule so they tend to cover a lot.

Neb struggled against weaker caliber team like Wash...game closer than score...tight game until bone head fumble on a KO.

I'd say line about right

Wouldn't that be reflected in a lower ranking by the "experts"?

Kinda thinking the polls are worthless..but then again, I look and see Boise in the top 5, so I realize that is truly the case.....

it's proof the polls, and and most fans, have no understanding of college football teams strengths/weakness and linemaking.

wisc was going to be at least a 7+ point fav in this game....minimum.....9.5 isnt surprising....14, that would have been surprising.

I doubt the Huskers have shown all their cards just yet. They have done enough to still have all W's

I think they have been waiting for this game since the season started.

It may be a blowout... But me thinks Neb D surprises many and they make this game more interesting than what the line seems to say it will be.

This is the type of game the Black Shirts rise up too.

Whisky is gonna see a Husker invasion as well. This team travels well and it's fan base seems to get ticks to any event.

Should be a great one Regardless.

I agree with Neverteaseit all the way--Neb also always gets the big break. These 2 might see each other again in the conf championship game?

polls are pretty meaningless this early in the season

I have said this before, but Nebraska is probably the most over-ranked team in any of the polls. They haven't really played like a top 20 team let alone a top 10 team. N. Illinois is the only somewhat decent team either has faced.

Nebraska's D hasn't been impressive, but at the same time they have had injuries that have exposed weaknesses. This is the first game they will essentially be at 100%. Pre-season AA corner Denard saw his first action last week and will be pretty close to 100% for this game. Pre-season AA d-tackle Crick sat out the game last week w/ a mild concussion but is expected to be back.

As Neverteaseit stated the Huskers likely haven?t shown all their cards. Last 2 years, Pelini has waited until the first big conference game to unveil some new scheme or wrinkle. Difference this year is that he is going against a coach who is much more astute for in-game adjustments than Gary Pinkel. Would not surprise me to see them go w/ a 3-4 they toyed w/ in camp and have not done thus far in a game.

The issue for the Huskers is getting their offense going against a good D. Their offensive line is an issue. QB Martinez and RB Burkhead are talented enough to put some points up but they are going to find it tough sledding for most of the game. 3-and-outs have been plenty for Nebraska so far this season and should be again this Saturday. If Wiscy is up by 2 tuddies in the 2nd half and Nebraska needs to rely on Martinez?s passing (and his god-awful throwing off his back foot mechanics) than they are sunk.

I expect a somewhat close low-scoring first half with Wiscy pulling away in the second half. If Nebraska hangs around it will be because their D and special teams have played an exceptional game.

And I agree with Hawkeye that these 2 at this point appear poised to play again in Indy. Big 10 is down this year outside of Wiscy and especially the Legends division.

well, I guess we got a pretty definitive answer to this question...

The folks that vote in the polls know dick about college football..... especially with Boise being in the 4th spot.

They said Nebraska 8, and WI 7th coming into the game.

Vegas said WI was a 10 pt fav, which was illogical compared to the polls.

Turns out Vegas was closer to being right... but not nearly close enough.

WI 31 pts better than NE... and it wasn't that close...

Now, WI is good, but how impressive is that victory? Nebraska looks like a pretty bad college football team to me.

WI could go undefeated, but not even get to the NC game.

I'm a big WI fan, but the Big 10 looks pretty weak to me.

Wisky is hurting for athletes on the defensive side of the ball. Nebraska can score with them.

according to who you? Thats an old wives tale like don't go swimming after you eat cause you will cramp . Badgers have athletes all over their roster from all around the country. QB is about as athletic and smart asthey come. Football program was put together like a fortune 500 company. To many people are lazy and buy into what someone says on talk radio. Stereotypes are hard to overcome but this does nothing but benefit to those with real knowledge. As Brett Bielema would say on Wisconsin.

the outcome of the came had nothing to do with what the line should have been...which was at least 7 and less than 10.....finished around 9

the polls are a popularity contest and if you're using them for gambling purposes, you need a new hobby.

GJN: not using them for gambling purposes at all.

Just pointing out how flawed the polls are, and since the BCS is so heavily weighted towards polls, what a farce the BCS is.

I knew the line was too low and was all over the Badgers last night. Easy money is nice! :00hour

sorry to call you out on this, but what changed your mind to go from the line being too high to the line being too low?
