The Mets are in the same market, how come they haven't had as much success "buying" a playoff spot? Also, year in year out the Yanks play in the toughest division in baseball. Spending big money on free agents is what Toronto, Boston and Baltimore have all done. It's dog eat dog in the AL east and always has been. Luxury tax has produced mid market championship teams in recent years anyway.:shrug:
