Later in the season, it lost 61-54 at Youngstown. The Raiders lead the all-time series 36-8. ? Wright State will have seen the league?s three top scorers on this road trip after playing Youngstown?s Perry tonight. He?s third in the league in scoring behind Detroit?s Ray McCallum and Valparaiso?s Ryan Broekhoff. ? Darling and Broekhoff are the only players to rank among the top five in the Horizon League in field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage and 3-point percentage.
About Youngstown State: Youngstown finished 16-15 last season, its best season since 2000-01. It was 10-8 in the Horizon League, finishing sixth. It had placed 10th and ninth in the previous two seasons. ? Coach Jerry Slocum is in his eighth season. ? Youngstown split two games in Wisconsin last week, losing 67-58 at Green Bay and beating Milwaukee 75-72. ? The Penguins rank first in the league in offensive rebounds, but eighth in defensive rebounds. They led the league by a wide margin in blocked shots (6.1 per game). Eargle averages 3.3 per game.
Coach Billy Donlon on Youngstown: ?They?re similar to Detroit in that they want to push the tempo, and that?s not really how we play. We have to get back, continue to guard and make them score in a variety of ways. Coach Slocum does a good job of mixing defenses. They play a switching man-to-man, more straight up man-to-man and a lot of zone. We?ll have to be prepared for that.?
