Stanford(-4') over Notre Dame (1*)
- - Don't know why this would be a good time for ND to play the best coached and most complete team they've faced since (at least) USC in 2008.

Tennessee(-14) over UAB (1*)
- - We'll soon see how the table was set for this week by Oregon and Florida.

Bowling Green(+25') over Michigan (1*)
- - I was too "scared" to get the W with Massachusetts last week, so now I'll get the L with the MAC. :0002

Temple(+14) over Penn State (1*)

Arizona(-6') over California (1*)
- - Much better Cal squads than this thud when they need to bounce.

- - I see BG lucky to be where they are and not at all likely to threaten . . . after a bad week last week, I can use the eggs.
("this guy goes to a psychiatrist and says, "Doc, uh, my brother's crazy; he thinks he's a chicken." And, uh, the doctor says, "Well, why don't you turn him in?" The guy says, "I would, but I need the eggs." Well, I guess that's pretty much now how I feel about relationships; y'know, they're totally irrational, and crazy, and absurd, and... but, uh, I guess we keep goin' through it because, uh, most of us... need the eggs" ~ Annie Hall)

- - Northern Illinois left me with nothing but positive impressions in their opening night loss at Iowa State. I knew in their next game it would be NIU or no one for me, but looking at their schedule, unfortunately saw it was a small school matchup that I would make no investment in. After that, though, came two Big Ten road games, then the conference opener at Akron. I was tempted as hell to pull the trigger on both the Illinois ATS cover and the SU win against Minnesota, but sat tight waiting for the Akron game: thank you, guys. Now they finally get a meaningful game at home, facing what IMO is the only MAC team "in their league" this season, which comes calling on their third straight road trip, and I'll let Northern Illinois carry my cash again.

- - All the ingredients are there . . . A rested team at home in the SEC off a tough loss, with offensive weapons, a legit defense, and an Ol' Ball Coach that's paid his dues for years on the way to a true signature win . . . Coming to visit is the No. 1 team in all the land off a dominating blowout against an overrated rival . . . Expecting QB Garcia to have at least one true brain fart that costs SC the game, hoping Garcia and the Ol' Ball Coach don't have too many brain farts to cost me the cover.

Going the right way from 10-11 to 28-20. I can't kill this thread just yet.

Not by design, but in my capping this year I've noticed a strange attraction to strong opinions on games involving teams after their first loss. Iowa, South Carolina, Kansas State, Stanford, USC, all come to mind. More such instances of attraction this week to work my way through (Michigan, Arizona, Alabama).

Iowa(-3)(-130) over Michigan (1*)
- - If I didn't think the Hawkeyes could match-up and deliver in this match-up against what this RichRod team brings to the table, then it would have to be a case of me not really thinking very highly of this Ferentz team, and nothing could be further from the truth of what I think.

Northern Illinois(-14) over Buffalo (1*)
- - I see a real gap between NIU and the second best team in the MAC this year, and Buffalo ain't that second best team.

- - "NIU has lost three straight to the Chippewas, winners of three of the past four MAC titles, and quarterback Dan LeFeavor, the 2007 and 209 MAC Offensive Player of the Year. But CMU comes into DeKalb a different team, riding a four-game losing streak under sophomore quarterback Ryan Radcliff and first-year coach Dan Enos, a former Michigan State assistant . . . ?We?re not taking that next step in certain positions yet,? Enos said. ?I know we got a lot of different guys playing in different areas. But we have to take that next step. That?s what?s been frustrating, we haven?t done that.? . . . "It's a good football team,? NIU coach Jerry Kill said of CMU. ?We understand that. Our seniors have not beaten Central. We should be focused. We have no reason for anything other than that.""

- - I like Iowa's situation, coach, QB, and defense over Wisky's OL.

Baylor(-6') over Kansas State (1*)
- - http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/10/baylor-has-bowl-bid-within-grasp.html . . . My 1-2 record while backing Baylor this year has been the most annoying blemish on my season to date.

- - I don't know if it's correct, but I read that the line in August was Texas(-37) over Baylor. I noted last week my annoyance about my Baylor plays this season, and they proceeded to hose me again by allowing a meaningless score on the final play. Regardless, I don't see any situational factors that complement said 30 point (more or less) swing in the matchup based on the team's identities and fortunes since August.
