Just curious who other people think can really contend for the title....I have two teams I am overly impressed with- figured could maybe get some conversation going with no others sports to discuss...anyways, 2 teams I really like

For me: PITT VS TORONTO

Pitt is the best team in NL in my opinion....Kang doesnt get enough talk for rookie of year but I think he should be. ..Cutch/marte are two of the top Outfielders and hitters in the majors....cole/liriano are both Ace's and our bullpen is insanely talented....

pedro/morse/jordy/rodriguez/aramis.....theres a chance we could see all of these guys coming off bench for majority of games...thats s lot of talent sitting ready to get in....keeps everyone hungry and ready to go.....team is ridiculous and I really think that they will catch Stlouis and win the division ....Clint Hurdle deserves so much credit....best coach in Baseball IMO...

For the American League-

Toronto reminds me of the tex ranger teams from few years ago that went to WS in back to back years .....They lack SP depth but have the one ACE in David Price similar to Cliff Lee for the Rangers ......but regardless they will outscore you in majority of games with elite offense...

This blue jays team offense is filthy....Tulo leading off? Whaat? He is hitting 3 or 4 for literally any other team....Revere is probably leadoff for any other team and is hitting in the 9 hole...

I think they hit their way in and win the AL crown....someone will get hot on their staff and give Price a nice compliment....beurhle can easily win you games...the other starters just need to be good enough and get it to the improved bullpen with a close game........Toronto will score 5+ daily....

Backup choices-

NL east winner- mets/nats- only one will make it...but each have dominant starting pitching which is the name of the game for playoffs....and while the two lineups stink offensively at stretches, they each have plenty of bats to provide runs

Cespedes/duda/murphy/Granderson/cuddyer/wright/dnaurd all can carry a team for a game or two....lagares/florez are both solid at times

Zimm/desmond/werth/span/rendon/ramos/yunel....and the possible NL MVP in Bryce harper....like mets, plenty of reason to get excited for potential to be reached

AL- If it is not Toronto I dont think the AL will win it all.....KC is solid but making it back to back is tough...cueto may give them as good of chance as any team in the past to go back to back AL champs, but I don't think that they do it....just gut instinct...

Yankees SP sucks...and offense to many weak spots
Angels- same as yanks

Balt/houston/tex- wouldnt be suprised if any of them get hot at the right time and make playoffs...all 3 have enough offense to make it in.........only team with SP to go with it is Houston so they are only real contender of the 3 IMO...

Been a fun year if anyone has opinion feel free to chime in

BUCS VS JAYS heard here first :toast:

Kershaw has been bad in the playoffs, especially vs St. Louis....I would not count out St. Louis or SF if they make it...These 2 teams are very tough outs when they get to the playoffs the last couple of years...When is the last time the Pirates won a playoff series?

The National League is wide open. Depends on who gets hot in Septrmber. St Louis is hard to bet against as they know how to win and have the best pitching ERA by a landslide. The Dodgers will be a tough out though.

I believe Toronto is peaking too early. KC will come out of the American Lesgue again. Speed kills in the playoffs and their bullpen is unhittable. Playoffs is about small ball and nobody has the talent that KC has in that area.

Only NL team a threat to the Cards is the Giants. They are our nemesis. Of course if they keep playing like they are in SD they become a non-factor in any conversation.

Kc hadnt won a playoff series in some of their players lifetime last year

Boston hadnt won a title in 100 years

Everyteam hasnt done something until they do it....if that makes sense...doesnt mean they are any less likely to do it this year....

SF scares me if they get in...a lot...

St louis isnt winning WS....

And pirates won series vs cinci 2 years ago....just happened to be a 1 game series....we didn't only win....we swept em

for the record

I respect the shit out of the ST Louis organization

they are everything I think a class act should be

Any pirates fan who says they aren't jealous of what the Cards have been able to do in the "Molina" era is lying- but I just don't see it with this team- they have continued winning with their injuries which good teams do- but come postseason when all the teams are tough and the pitching is more dominant, I just don't see this lineup as it is being able to do enough to win 4 games out of 7- just don't- almost every other year I have taken future bets on them in secrecy as pirates fans should never admit to be rooting for the red birds to win- so it isn't a hate thing picking against them- their SP has been good- best team ERA in the league- but.....

wacha doesn't make enough people miss and in the playoffs all teams can hit the ball-

carlos mart- quietly been dominant but this will be his biggest workload ever and eventually fatigue will set it (wacha in same position)

lackey- solid veteran and he should be fine with work load, but never been an ACE

any other team I would take the "ace" over wacha in game 1
and in most cases I would take the #2 over Cmart at this point with innings limits/workload/experience

SF- bumgardner/leake or heston
PIT- Cole/liriano
Cubs- Arrieta/lester
Nats- Sherzer/Zimmerman
dodgers- Greinke/Kershaw

again please understand I think ST Louis is the top franchise and teams should hope to get to the level they have gotten to year in and year out- just this year with no holliday/wainwright/adams then I don't see it

bullpen is nice but again in playoffs most of them are-

for me I just don't see this

It's like that every year and the Cards still get it done. Makes me sick trust me, but they are that good. They seem to win every close game. I look at their starting pitching and shake my head yet they lead the league by a ton.

Cubs could be a problem down the stretch if they keep up the momentum. Cards have 6 games left with both Cubs and Pirates. Home/Away. Gonna tell the story of the NL Central after 1st series of each.

If Cards pitching can keep up the pace and add just a little hitting, gonna be hard to beat. Rosie has been lights out this season, a huge plus from last year. It' gonna be fun to see how it all plays out. Always hate the end of baseball season, could watch these Redbirds year round.:0002

I love wainwright- love your manager as well

Druery outdoors has him as a guest on a few of the movies/episodes and he is very likeable- also have had a few of the players whom have all been good guests- I want to hate them all haha- but I cannot-

If wainwright can find his way back somehow then I will have a very different opinion on this postseason- Wacha is truly a #2 at this point in his career and that allows CMart/Lackey to be the #3 and #4 where they belong-

Wacha will be a elite #1 for a long part of his career- until he starts missing bats more and can consistleny pound the zone he is a tier below the Kershaw/price/greinke type of arms- but he is very close to making that leap...........sucks as a pirate fan thinking Wainwright/wacha are going to be around for the next few years in our division- Cole is young we just need some of our young arms to pan out and somehow find a way to sign a big name in the offseason- Pirates seem to refuse to go after the big arms during the season- they have enough pieces they should have made a move for hamels............

oh well anyways I think NL central is best in the business- just sucks that Pirates or ST Louis may end up with the 2nd MOST WINS IN ALL OF BASEBALL- and have a 1 game playoff.......

We could possibly see the 3 best records go to the Cards/bucs/cubs and only 1 team will be guaranteed a 5 game series- playoffs just need to go back to one wildcard or just seed them by ranking and let the two worst records play in the 1 game elimination even if both are division winners

If anybody can make it back, it's Waino. I believe he comes back--and helps the club. Total class act. This last 6 weeks is going to be exciting baseball for the NL Central. :popcorn2
