Event 42..Last count had 2,188 entries!

started noon PST

Here's a link to live reporting of the event
http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2008-world-series-of-poker/event-42-seniors-nlhe-wc/

Both Jack and ctownguy are in it

Jack got seated in table next to the casino, by entrance to pool. I never knew they used these tables for WSOP--they are about a quarter mile away
from the Amazon rooms in convention center generally used for these events (where ctownguy is seated)

Jack's table started a few hands late, stuck way out on the edge and no tournament clock, with official at other end of tables.

But Jack won the very first (small) pot!

thanks for the reports, TerryRay!

I did notice that Bruce Buffer is in the field. UH OH!!! Somebody didn't check ids too closely!

from wikipedia...

Bruce Buffer (born on May 21, 1959 in Tulsa, Oklahoma) <<That's not 50 years old

add: imdb says Date of Birth: 21 May 1957, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA

guess he's 49 or 51

not much to report

not much to report

both Jack and Jim are bit under tourney average for chips--four or so folks at thier tables with less. Tho Jack's table is a bit skewed with one huge chip leader.

Jack's first table was broken up at 1:13 PST. He thought would happen sooner than that.

Last count 2217 players in this event. Big increase for yet another year!

prize money starts at place #198

first break is in 20 minutes, 2:07 PST.

updaate:

updaate:

Tourney started with $3K in chips

Jack had $2500 at break, had gotten down to $1100.

Ctownguy had $4K at break, was up to $4400 at one point...

After break Jack had a bad hand, got way down. But picked up a modest pot after that, which helped! Click on pic below to see short video clip of him raking in those chips

Just now ctownguy got up to bit over $6K in chips.

Just out of curiousity... how are you able to snap pictures inside the casinos?

Nearly all casinos don't allow pics on the casino floor. (There are a few exceptions, like Harrah's in Laughlin)

But that rule doesn't apply to restaurants, bars, lounges, etc -- and neither the poker room. But flash is not allowed

Bad news on Jack

He had pair nines and thought long, decided to go all in. Figured good chance had best hand, and was short stacked anyway.

other fellow had Ace King. Flop and turn just gave other fellow a chance toward a straight--but river was a King!

If Jack won that pot (he shoulda!!) he'd of had about $7K...but he's out of the tourney..

Jim down to about $4.5K, holding on...Pic of him here

Oops! Ctownguy just strolled by. He had pair jacks, raise 600, other guy raise 1200, big blind raises, but best hand he's had in hour, sez Ctownguy. Another fold and call. Guy just had Ace and 5 of clubs, but picked up Ace on the turn!

So Ctownguy is out of tourney also. He can fill you in on details later, I forgot some and bit upset too, but can't imagine how upset if Jack or Jim-- I can imagine I couldn't handle it as well as them tho.

RollTide! You should be here, would be lotta fun!

BS seating assignment. Had to wait in line over there during the beginning of the Saturday tourney. Seemed loud as hell w/ the music from the casino.

Vegas Baby !!
I stopped by to sneak a peek at the guys in action at about 4PM, and happened to notice them at the casino bar already.

I had hoped that they were merely on a break, but both had beat cast out of the poker room already.

It's been a great week getting to socailize with all the guys & girls. At least you guys all know that I'm here now !!

Just a note to let everyone know that meeting doubledown was a pleasure. Just another example of what great people we have on this site.

My wife and I have really enjoyed the last few days with Jack, AR and his lovely wife Suzanne, Gregg, Ian and TerryRay.

Great times with all, except for busting out in the WSOP events it has been a great trip.:00hour :00hour
