Great,
called a big preflop raise and flopped it...

with trash.

Hellmouth would be going thru the roof right now!

He didn't call a big raise preflop. when the final hand came up he had his opponent outstacked 39 million to 16 million roughly. blinds were 150k 300k and danneman only raised to 700 k which is just 1.3 x the big blind. playing heads up you aren't folding much with a big cheap lead.

big stack poker dictates to call with any two in that spot for a small raise. can't wait for premium cards. yeah the hand sucks, but not a lot of people understand deep stack poker. hachem played well enough to get off the hand if he didn't hit it, or he could have been waiting to make a move and it didn't matter what his cards were. just so happened he hit it. with deep stacks, its really not that bad a play because its so bad a hand you can bust your opponent if you hit it and its so bad you can easily dump it.

i understand your case for mucking it and wouldn't fault him if he did, but heads up with a chip lead you aren't throwing away much. i don't think its that bad a play. hell, dolly won with 10 2 which is a worse hand than 7 3.

Title: Joseph Hachem Wins the Championship!
Log: Hand 231 - Joseph Hachem has the button, he limps, and Dannenmann checks. The flop comes Ad-6d-5c, Dannenmann bets $400,000, and Hachem folds.

Hand 232 - Steve Dannenmann has the button, he raises to $700,000, and Hachem calls. The flop comes 6h-5d-4d, Hachem checks, Dannenmann bets $700,000, Hachem raises to $1,700,000, and Dannenmann calls. The turn card is the As, Hachem bets $2,000,000, and Dannenmann slowly raises to $5,000,000, Hachem reraises all in, and Dannenmann immediately calls. Hachem shows 7c-3s (seven-high straight), while Dannenman has Ad-3c (top pair). Dannenmann needs to catch a seven on the river to chop the pot with equal straights.

The entire crowd is on their feet as the river card comes. There are only three cards that can keep Hachem from becoming champion.

The river card is the 4c! Joseph Hachem has just become the 2005 World Series of Poker champion!
