Kosar, you continue to minimize Saddam's ability to shoot flak at our jets flying in our mandated no-fly zone, coming up woefully short due to his lack of firepower. Remember that, when he was "attacking" us?

I think he had terrorists manning the flak shooters, too. But that's just a rumor. They might have been insurgents.

I apologize if I spelled "flak" incorrectly. It's been a long time since I played that WW2 Bombing Mission Video Game...can't remember how they spelled it.

You know, the more "stuff" happens, on so many fronts, with so many countries involved, I am getting pretty concerned about all this. Your header about WW3 might not be that far-fetched. Now I see where Putin is jibing Cheney for his comments about Russia and suppression. Seems like a great time for our administration to be jabbing at other world powers, eh?

because saddam did have wmds (i know they haven't been found...which doesn't mean that they didn't have them) & missiles & the money to seek additional weapons.

i know you didn't believe it (wmds) but i do & i believe history will prove that the invasion was warranted but it wasn't fought correctly.

only time will tell.

and btw...concerning your quotes on gw.....i agree with him. we would be considerably weaker if any of the leading dems were in control.

Quick question to ya ,

i think that a majority of our problems with that region are a direct connection with Israel

That is exactly what Muslim extremists want you to think. But as the brother of a New York City firemanand living just 30 miles from ground zero, we here understand who the enemy is. It certainly isn't the Israelis.
I hope Southern Cal doesn't become a Muslim extremist target, but if it should, keep telling yourself it was because of U.S. ties with the only real democracy in the Middle East.

I agree, Zoomer.

Padre,

If Mexico had been blowing up our citizens for the last 40 years, then I think we would definitely be justified in your scenario.

Still don't see how folks think Saddam would never be a threat.
He pulled same shit as Iran and NK kicking out inspectors and thumbing his nose at UN. Would he and did he have WMD's --

How quickly we forget those he gased--or these headlines in 81
"1981: Israel bombs Baghdad nuclear reactor
The Israelis have bombed a French-built nuclear plant near Iraq's capital, Baghdad, saying they believed it was designed to make nuclear weapons to destroy Israel."

Where do you think Saddam would be right now had it not been for Isreal or 1st gulf invasion? No Threat???--Only diff I see between he and Iran and NK leaders are someone took prevented measures in to stop him BEFORE he loaded up--unfortuntely for the Kurds and others it was too little to late.

DTB whats even sadder we may have gave him the gas. Saddam was dead in water after 91 war guys going no place fast. And his so called nuke plans back in 80's was. Well not much. What it take two Israel bombs to end it. Other then gas and a no win war with Iran he was nothing.

Right. Saddam had no program since 1991. That's been confirmed by anybody interested. UN inspectors said it. Saddam said it(I know, I know), CIA report post-invasion said it. Bi-partisan 9/11 investigation said it. Nothing. Nada.

Good point, DJV, about how little it took for Israel to take out his Osirak reactor in 1981, with no retaliation whatsoever.

So what's up with this occupation/nation building BS? And we really didn't 'take out' anything, other than Saddam who has been replaced with an Iranian puppet government.
