Hey madjackers........sometimes it's great to just sit down with the family (haven't seen any of them in a year) and play a board game. Yep that's right, a good old fashioned board game:scared

We had a blast...........played Yahtzee, and get this, my very first roll I rolled a big straight.....then second time around on my first roll I rolled a small straight.............did I win....no...lost by a point to my mom:SIB

Was fun.......my 2 cents....get the family together and play Yahtzee....it's a blast:SIB

and some trivia...........

also....check out the odds on Yahtzee.......:scared

Triv Pursuit is a good one...have not played that in forever......and I may be wrong but I think TP was also invented by a Canadian:SIB

still bitter about losing by one point........that "chance" square can always be a tricky decision as to what number to take there:shrug:

The game was made in 1979 by Scott Abbott, a sports editor for the Canadian Press, and Chris Haney, of Welland, Ontario, a photo editor for the Montreal Gazette. After finding pieces of their Scrabble game missing, they decided to create their own game.[1] With the help of John Haney and Ed Werner, they completed development of the game, which was released in 1982.

For a stoll down memory lane, here are some of the things my 3 year old got this year:

Tinker Toys
Lincoln Logs
Chutes & Ladders
Cooties
Candy Land

We got so much pressure from grand-parents to buy him a hand-held game system, and we fought it tooth & nail this year. I just wanted to put it off at least one more year. We'll probably go with the Wii next year to enjoy it together. I don't want him buried on a hand-held all the time.

Best board game, in my opinion, is Catch Phrase! We also play quite a bit of cards and backgammon.

Love to play games:00hour

My father is a retired rocket scientist and I used to get so pissed off playing Trivia Pursuit with him cause he knew EVERY answer that I would intentionally try and mispronounce words to throw him off and he would STILL get them right:mj07:

We used to have some great hearts and spades games too:argue:

Dawg, we will have to get together for some backgammon, love that game:SIB

Christmas eve, playing the family version of a Chinese recycled gift exchange, I was the recipient of a box of old board games including: Jeopardy (1972), Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly, Twister (1986), Wheel of Fortune (1992), Life, Worst Case Scenario Survival Game and Big Brother, The Game

I'm looking forward to relearning some, playing some and regifting some! :SIB

We play "Dirty Board". It's the same as Aggravation. I have the same homemade board that my grandparents used.

we played the new Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader board game and the dvd game. My 11 year old got a million her first time, and my 8 year old got to the million dollar question and missed it. Pretty good game.

We also play as a family Cranium sometimes.

Taboo and Cranium are both good family games as well.

Scattegories always ends in some kind of argument with my wife's family. It doesn't help that half the family is right wing ultra-Catholics then we also have two fashion designers (one a gay guy in Brooklyn), a "big firm" lawyer, and bottles of wine and bourbon flowing like the Ohio River. Holidays are a blast!
