If you truly believe NFL games are fixed why in the world would you still bet on them?

I hate what the NFL has become and the way it is officiated, but games fixed:rolleyes:

Because I enjoy it. The bad calls go 50 50 with or against you in the long run.

Why would anyone bet on these games. Take a look at how many people are above 50% in these contests on here. A monkey could do 50% but so few of the members here are at that level with all their research.

Just having fun anyway. I won big last week on the Blocked field goal. This week I lost on the Hail Mary. The week before I won on a last second field goal.

May as well throw the craps dice. But hey, that is fun too.

On the course!
Still can't believe people think these games are fixed.unreal.This is football these plays sometimes happen.to continue to blame the refs or even more outrageous to say the players dropped a pass or missed a ball on purpose.I agree some coaches always work the refs and get the calls but you should factor that into your betting in that case.sure maybe in college basketball there can be a 19 year old kid who's may shave points in some obscure game but the NFL with millionaires? Cmon man get real.sometimes the ball bounces funny ways it's happens it's a game going on at Great speeds with athletic players under high contact and pressure during the game.if you think it's fixed maybe you shouldnt be betting.

Or, if you think it's fixed, that's EXACTLY why you bet!

The big misconception a lot of you have stems from this: "There is no way a guy getting paid millions is throwing a game"

Well, open your mind for a minute, and dig this..........

I assume most of you guys have had a boss at some point in your life. That being the case, you're hired to do a job for that boss, and you get paid. If he says he wants you working over here...that's what you do. If he says go over there and work.....you do.

Why would this be any different for the MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR business that is the NFL? If the league says today you throw more incomplete passes and interceptions, that's what you do. If they say miss a step in defensive coverage, you do. As long as your checks don't bounce, why do I give a shit if I "win" or "lose"? I'm getting paid either way! I'm not getting caught, because everyone is "working" towards the same thing! Bigger checks!

Ask yourself another question: "How in the hell was EVERY Packer receiver in front of the Lions on that last play? There was A) No chance of that ball not being caught, or B) If it was dropped, 4 flags would have been tossed for pass interference.

The refs have become ridiculous over the past few seasons! And it's WEEKLY!

I remember when a lot of people thought Wrestling was on the up and up!

no disrespect but this is utter non-sense.Why would a player deliberately make himself look bad foolish in order to "be in on the fix".Oh so when he becomes a free agent everyone will see that he sucks and he won't make big money.or maybe the coach will just release him and their goes his job his livelihood gone just so he could be in on the fix. This is not a job in the mail room or guys buying stocks it's professional millionaire players who get paid so well because they perform at a high level. They wouldn't make money if they look foolish on plays just so a game can be fixed.Yeah I'm sure all the bookies took bets on wrestling back in the day.

anybody that thinks it`s "not" possible is as na?ve as the day is long...with this much money involved and so many ways to pull it off(quarters,props,yada,yada)......anytime there are huge amounts of money to be made and human beings involved,it`s possible......gambling is the lifes blood of today`s sports landscape.........if gambling were somehow able to be legitimately banned, does anyone think that sport as we know it would be a fraction as popular?

is it so far fetched to think there couldn`t be a ref or portions of a crew with financial issues or an art schlichter mentality?.....of course not....so many different sports...so many different individuals involved....the law of averages makes it much more probable than not...maybe on a much smaller scale...but to act as though it`s an impossibility is ridiculous...

that said, proving it`s happened is a whole `nother issue...does anybody think that a league wouldn`t do everything in it`s power to squelch such a finding?...such a scandal would make the concussion issue seem like a walk in the park compared to a full-blown gambling scandal....the powers that be would sell their own mothers to sweep a gambling/game fixing scandal under the carpet...

it`s in pretty much everybody`s best interests that all the stones remain unturned....

again,to be clear, not saying it`s happening(I have no proof).......just saying that to say it`s not possible is ridiculous.....

how many f`ing politicians go into government service as an everyman and emerge a decade or two later richer than Solomon?...that all on the up and up,right?

Those of you old enough to remember Vegas when it was Vegas not a place for over priced restaurants and night clubs. They would do anything they could to get you in the casino. Cheap buffets and free cigaretts. They knew they had the odds in their favor. And you had a chance to win. You always heard people winning a grand here and there. All night long.

Go in a casino today. A buffet that is priced like you are going out for your anniversary dinner. Tight slots that suck up a 20 dollar bill in a matter of minutes. Just look at the cashiers window. Friday night and only two windows open. They don't expect any winners at their "Fair" table games.

No wonder the young kids walk by the tables and machines and go to the show then go home.

You don't need the players. The refs hold all the power. First quarter the home team gets all the breaks. Second quarter the visitors. Someone adds up the calls and says Gee the calls were even.

These guys had a good thing but like the casinos they got too greedy. It is a shame when you lose, usually because of a bad call. It's great when you win. One thing for sure they are always on the winning side.

It was best said about that Hail Mary if it was dropped then someone would drop a flag.

Why didn't they throw a flag 2 plays before?

This

Anyone who thinks there is NO CHANCE that any of these games are fixes has their head in the sand.

There are examples from almost every sport at every level where someone involved has gotten in trouble for gambling related activities.....hell ownership of some of the original nfl franchises were gambling wins or payoffs.

That's what I said isn't it? The young kids are not gambling. They walk past the tables to the shows.

I don't think the players are in if games are fixed because by now a player would have busted a gut and went public or went missing trying to blackmail the nfl to pay for their drug habit.

I started this thread and not certain stuff is fixed, but have been hearing for years and how is NOT one Lions player involved and why doesn't Caldwell send 4 or 5 guys on the final play knowing Rodgers can't throw this pass if rushed??? Just seems a little strange and not like Lions were making playoffs with a win anyway in all likelihood.

I honestly don't believe it was fixed, but was venting and after being on Steelers, Patriots, Browns ML, etc in recent days, felt like it was fixed.
