START TALKING ABOUT WHAT MATTERS.

they aren't gonna start talking about those things because they have an election to win. The two don't go together.

from a post I made while back:

Most elections are decided by the undecided (uninformed) voter. Most these folks can't name their congressman or senators. Pollsters find that if you ask them a political question and get an answer, then rephrase the questions and you subsequently then get an inconsitent or contradictory answer---shows that most folks don't have well thought out ideas on issues or any underlying political theory.

Gut feelings about pocketbook, country, corruption and such is the reasoning most use. This is influenced heavily by candidate slogans, packaging, name recognition, character attacks, colors used in ads, gaffes like eating tamales with the corn husk on----these are what decide most elections---not positions on issues. See ?Winning Elections: Political Campaign Management, Strategy & Tactics? ....a very informative and influential book.

Heck, in this paper ("Blind Retrospection. Electoral Responses to Drought, Flu, and Shark Attacks", warning, pdf file) written by some Princeton profs, they estimate that ?2.8 million people voted against Al Gore in 2000 because their states were too dry or too wet? due to weather that year. Authors figger these folks cost Gore 7 states (just need one more to win)

Repuplicans just turning to what has helped in many (tho not all) elections.

So if Obama wins, you've already decided that it won't be at all because of Obama.

that's just my opinion....but as i have said a few times if obama wins you will never hear me complain about the election or accuse him & his associates of being crooks, etc....he wins he is my president & i will support him...but i will be critical when i think the issue warrants it....

That's where I lean, not because he's blowing me away, but I just can't buy into the "let's forget about the mistakes of the past 8 years and focus on the future" mindset being pushed by the GOP.

chad...

i guess you don't remember that in the previous years....on a campaign the vp candidate is the one who usually throws the dirt....

and i agree...as long as the voters are concentrating on the economy, the worse mccain does in the polls...obama won't beat mccain..the economy will.

I do remember that, and do agree that's who will do more of it. I was just responding to the talk of the recent uptick in personal stuff (which I highlighted) which in my opinion was started by the republicans - and mainly due to the recent polling data showing Obama gaining steam.

I suppose one could say it started when Biden was actually debating McCain in the VP debate, and succeeding, but that wasn't the personal, Swift Boat character stuff that Palin's comments were the past couple of days.

Every pundit saw it coming & predicted that the McCain campaign would go ultra negative in these last 30 days.

They are on their last legs & had to do something. It is a desperate last attempt to turn the tide. Just sad is that what they have to rely on to get themselves elected.

Don't blame obama and camp a bit from wanting to stay away from character issues--but how do you judge someone with no experience and promises of hope and change -other than on character.
--and I believe the ones whining the most are the same ones speaking of Palin being the one pregnant--and all the photo choped pics.

Only prob I got is they are omitting a lot of important ones--for example

Like the one where he- like a common deadbeat thought rules were meant for everyone else but him and gets ticketed 17 or 18 times for parking in designated no parking zones --then like a common thief --won't even pay em--until he runs for president years later-then slips in town to pays em all off thinking no one will know--preaching his hope /change rhetoric all the way to the sheeples:nooo:

This will get good in the next month :)

---and where are all these liberals here that were speaking of GW/booze and drugs for last 8 years ?
--They kinda fell off that rant--since O come on the scene --a fickle crew I'd say :)

I see that explains why your reference to Bush/coke were all prior to Obama running-time to move on :)

Where did ya get that from Dogs?

Not that I don't believe, it's just that parking tickets are kinda optional in Chicago until you get a boot on your car.

I'm failing to understand what you are talking about at this point. Yeah, Bush was a cokehead and an alcoholic. Some of us mentioned it. What's the point of continuing to go on about forever though? Bush is about gone you know. I doubt I will speak too much of him anymore.

But you will undoubtedly talk about Clinton's blowjob until the end of time.

the lib`s have unfairly tied mccain to bush even though no republican has turned on bush more than mccain...

so what the republicans should do is tie obama to,not only ayres, but rezko...and in particular reverend wright and acorn....

if he didn`t want this stuff out there,he shouldn`t have hung with racists, terrorists and criminals..

obama`s shoulder deep in acorn(it would take a long panel to list all of acorn`s illegal and shady voting shenanigans)....he was a fricking trainer and leader....and he`s never once explained how in the hell he sat in that church for 20 years and exposed his children to that racist hatred....

i`d be posting those wright ads 24-7.....

but mccain`s not using it...and it might just cost him a shot at winning....

this is why the liberal media endorsed mccain as the republican nominee...he can`t run a campaign...dumber than a post politically...

palin`s trying to drag him kicking and screaming across the finish line...but he`s just to dense to get it...

Are you guys suggesting that the things you are saying should have been used against Obama have not already been used - extensively - against Obama? If so, I really don't know what to say about that. It's ridiculous...

We had WALL TO WALL Reverend Wright crap on Fox News, Drudge Report and all the conservative and right wing outlets, blogs and commercials for months. MONTHS. We've had big time talking heads (most watched and listened to talk show hosts) talking about Ayres and Rezko in almost every show they have done.

Has anyone listened to Sean Hannity at ALL?!? Good lord, it's all he's been able to talk about for months now. And now Palin's been given the job...

To say it hasn't been done is simply ridiculous. It's been done non-stop, especially since it became clear Obama was the front runner. And it's been done FAR MORE than anything that has come McCain - or Palin's way, that's for should.

i`m saying they should be used right now....in front of the public.....

television ads 24-7......

the public has a short memory.....

it`s now or never....

they need to remind the public who this guy breaks bread with....just like the obama campaign is putting the keating stuff out there...

this ain`t softball they`re playing..

Did you actually call this 'an important one?'

Parking tickets?

Seriously?
