Britain's most famous scientist, Stephen Hawking, has condemned the Iraq war as a "war crime" and said the US-led invasion was based on lies.
The physicist spoke during an event in London's Trafalgar Square at which protesters read out the names of thousands of Iraqis and coalition troops killed since the March 2003 invasion.

"The war was based on two lies," said Hawking. "The first was we were in danger of weapons of mass destruction and the second was that Iraq was somehow to blame for September 11.

"It has been a tragedy for all the families that have lost members.

"As many as 100,000 people have died, half of them women and children. If that is not a war crime what is?"

Hawking, the best-selling author of A Brief History Of Time, was joined by readers including London Mayor Ken Livingstone, playwright Harold Pinter, boxer Chris Eubank and actor Neil Pearson.

On the course!
You say "we" like you have something to do with "it" besides riding in the back seat with that "are-we-there-yet" look on your mug.

Not really a bleeding heart... just seen too many living standards in Third world countries......every US school child should get a personal tour of people fishing for food in trash cans, peeing in a trench, living under a lean-to of mashed coke cans, ETC... before complaining about their allowance or bumming gas money from Dad for their OLD 6 year old car ( a four door no less, GEE DAD what will my friends think....you get the drift)....the young have no clue....

I am a veteran of Daddy Bush's first gulf war. Yes I do belive Junior had a personal agenda when he took office but also he isnt scared to make a decision.

I voted for Bush not because I really liked his performance more like the Dems didnt give me a viable choice. As a veteran I belive Kerry would have had the U.N. in charge of our military. Does Somalia ring a bell with anyone.

I love this country and will always stand up and salute the standing president whether or not I personally agree with his politics. Sometimes its more about the office than the person. Also isnt great to live in a country where people can disagree with one another and not have to fight about it.

I agree we jumped into this fight with false info in Iraq but does anyone here really agree than if Saddam had the capabilities he wouldnt use them. I agree with a STRIKE FIRST policy.

So you actually think that Bush would send American soldiers to die at war over seas so he can make him and his friends even more rich than they all ready are??? God what an Evil Bastard... How did such a psycho path rise to the most powerful position in the world..

Sure, i see that.. I can see how i would risk the Presidency and send Americans to die at war just to make my friends rich..

..Why would anyone risk that???

Just another simple mind blinded by the smoke and mirrors of the main stream media..

Besides WR... You only took shots at me.. you didnt answer the question... How much has been to America..?
