Update - Wifey + I walked from our house, through town, across the blue bridge and up one of the steepest hills in western Pennsylvania to Wal-Mart and back home again. Total time spent in motion = 1 hour 40 min. Am presently eating a small serving of rice flavored with Kikkoman Soy Sauce and a small bowl of crushed pineapple.

364 days to go.

Wease,

I surprised myself by completing the walk. The steep hill was a challenge. Gonna' try the steep hill thingy a coupla' days a week.

My wife is a health nut. Has always eaten healthy, belongs to a health club, regular regimen of vitamins, on and on. I wasn't the polar opposite, but not nearly enough exercise and waaaaayyy too much bread and pastry.

With winter approaching, I may invest in a bowflex.

Buddy,

That is great. Its almost two years since I decided to change my life. Im down over 150 lbs and I feel great.

It is work every day but now I'm actually drinking whey protein shakes to ADD lean muscle.

I'm blessed that I was able to do this with a healthy diet and excersise. Now the guys at work and I work out three days a week and I do cardio three other days a week on my own.

As you know, the tough part is over! You started and it just gets easier every day from now on.

I don't know you but I really mean it when I say great job and keep it up!

I am not grossly overweight... but I need to lose about 15 or 20 pounds... I try but its difficult to eat the right things because I'm always on the run.

and when I have a chance and eat healthy... I never feel full for something.

Whats something healthy to eat (that isn't nasty) that will fill me up? I tried to eat an apple for lunch, but in an hour I was starving...

weasel`s healthy protein lentil stew recipe/

1 can tomato sauce(any kind, even the fancy stuff)
1 lb lentils
2 celery stalks
2 carrots
1 onion
1 garlic(or garlic powder)
bacon bits...
4 tablespoons(or 3)olive oil..

1)check through the lentils for any obvious "stuff" that doesn`t belong or old dried out lentils.....theres not much,if any, usually...

2)chop up the vegetables....sautee them in a big stew pot using the olive oil...

3)empty in the can of tomato sauce...let it simmer for around 5 minutes...

4)add around 4/5 cans(cups) of water...stir it up...check periodically in case you need to add more water...it`s more of a stew than a soup...

5)when the mix starts to boil a little, wash the lentils in a strainer and dump them in the pot.....

6)add some garlic powder/salt to your liking...i don`t add much salt...theres usually quite a bit in the tomato sauce...depends on taste and your salt issues...

7)stir occasionally...let cook(at medium heat) for about an hour/75 minutes stirring occasionally...at around the half hour point, throw in a few capfuls of bacon bits...gives it a nice bacony taste...

plenty of protein...lentils are very healthy....much better than eating canned soup...more body....

i keep a ceramic bowl on hand in cold weather...just throw some in a pan and heat some up...good with beer and a piece of garlic bread...

lentils don`t sound appetizing?.....i think you`ll be surprised...

Justin,

Eat things you have to chew. Apples, carrots, celery.

And do not bring unhealthy crap into your house.

Out of sight, out of mind.

If your stomach says "I'm hungry". You say, "Good! Don't talk to me again till your fifteen pounds lighter'"

Point is don't let your stomach boss you around.

Good luck!

with the birth of my second daughter three weeks ago, me and the Mrs have started new diet excersise plan. I was 200 lbs, and have lost about 8 pounds. would like to get to 175 or 180.

Mainly diet, very very high fiber low calorie meals. But, not starving myself by any means. And running 4 times a week, and tennis a couple days as well. Quit smoking over a year ago and I'm amazed how much my running has improved.

I've been living off of boneless/skinless chicken breast and egg beaters.

You can fill up on those two items and they are low calorie and high protein.

try and eat smaller portions every four hours, no need to starve yourself, just don't go eat the the double cheeseburger or fried chicken tenders, instead eat carrots and peanut butter or string cheese or a box of raisans...

those egg beaters are great....chop up some onion/pepper and top with some lowfat cheese for a nice omelet...the egg whites, prior to what some folks believe, have the protein......the yolks the cholesterol...

No breakfast today (highly unusual)

Coupla slices of a Gala apple, two small cups of coffee and a slug of apple cider vinegar. Still not hungry and praying I can hold off till supper. Wife said supper would be cauliflour, lima beans, brussel sprouts + chunky applesauce.

Am hoping to go for a brisk twenty minute walk this afternoon.
