Make sure you at least stop at the student Union for a beer. Sits right on the shore of Lake Mendota a block from State Street.
Also you gotta find time for a brat during your stay. State Street Brats about a block from campus on State Street.

Sun, are you a runner? If so make sure you check out the lakeshore path from the Union out to Picnic Point along Lake Mendota.
Staying at Crown Plaza. Probably both Wednesday night and Thursday. No real food preference - as long as it is good and isnt any weird bs.

Delmonico's, Chop House, or Smoky's all good for Steak.
Mariners for seafood(Lobster) & Steak. Over on the eastside.
Peppino's for Italian.
If you like Gyros, go to Parthenons on State.
Jolly Boibs Jerk Joint for something different, you will have fun there, sit out on the patio in the back.
