Localism doesn't exist down here. First, there aren't usually enough surfers in the water to cause anybody to be super pissed if someone drops in on them. If you miss one wave, there's another open one just behind it. Second, I think Peruvians are just in general quite friendly people. I would probably be considered a local at this point.
