First let me say i should have followed you with C of C yesterday and i plan on doing it today
Okay now on to the picks I made today and let me start with Ark ST.
this is a rematch of last year in the first round when Ark ST beat Denver and they have several things that I believe will lead to a repeat performance. ASU head Coach Dickey Nutt is a tournamnet coach and he started 3-0 in this tourney (now 5-3) and has a way of getting his kids to play thier best come tournamnet time. (He is also 6-2 against the pioneers of Denver) With a win today it would put NUtt in sole position of third place in wins in the conference. Denver already beat them once this year and so they also get the revenge angle and in that game they were embarrassed on the boards (the worst this year) and they will come out banging to play a physical game so this does not happen again. Kim Adams one of the top rebounders in SBC, is averaging 8.9 rebounds per game over the season and has reached double figures in rebounds in seven of the last nine games, will lead that charge. Also ASU has had some hot play at the point (Antonio Rambo) which I think is key to any tournamnet game as this will lead to less turnovers and transition buckets. He is also avergaing 12 points per game and a career high 19 in the last game played against FIU. Last but not least, ASU can hammer the long ball. The Indians have had some very good three-point shooting teams over the last several years, but this season?s squad set a new school record for three point field goals made in a season. The old record of 210 was set by the 1997-98 team that featured Antonio Harvey, Micah Marsh and Chico Fletcher. So far this season, ASU has knocked down 232 three pointers. ASU is also better at hitting FT's which is important down the stretch.
this will keep them in any contest and Adams and Rambo will give them a nice inside/outside prescence leading the outside three's open.
Denver has never won a game in this tourney and is 3-2 on neutral courts this year, 1-7 off a loss to a conference rival, and 2-5 after allowing 80 points or more.
that should do it for the first game , I left the info out the first time around because i didn't know anyone was looking for it, but will put some in on the other game too
Good Luck today Skipper!
