Just curious as to why the kid had absolutely no citations issued, nor was he arrested and or charged with anything whatsoever? The officer is under investigation for his actions and you still insist that the kid is at fault because of a lawyer you saw on the internet? You realize the first statement your lawyer friend makes is that it is "clear that our rights and civil liberties are being eroded"?

Who gives a fuck if the officer is under investigation? Of course they are going to investigate it. They'd investigate the smallest of complaints as well.

Nobody said the kid broke the law. The kid acted like a dickhead and purposely set out to get exactly what happened to happen. The lawyer with 30 years of experience said he should have listened to the officer. Sorry but when dealing with authorities ill go with a lawyer over fatdaddycool from madjacks.

If this kid met some cop that didn't give a shit and didn't care about his window being rolled down, would he be posting it to the Internet and crying about his rights? No.

The kid wanted to make a point and did. He "crashed" the checkpoint just to try and stir up some shit. Dickhead move in my book. The cops are out there trying to do their job and keep the roads safer. They dont need some arrogant dick holding up traffic trying to challenge the law because he wants to make a video for his political party.

We also only see what he allows us to see because it is his video and he can edit it to suit him and his argument.

-I would say he has no citations because it was a sobriety check point and he was sober.

-I would say the cop is under investigation for much the same reason Zimmerman was convicted before he was even arrested.

-I would say that the lawyer has seen enough of these cases to understand what the right thing to do is even if you do not like it.

Just out of curiosity, why did the kid even stop? I mean if he truly believes the things he is saying/writing on the video then he should have waved at the officers and continued on his way instead of being momentarily "detained" in the first place.

I agree with you for the most part. Yeah, the kid wanted to make something happen and he did so I see your point. My point is that it also wouldn't have been an issue of the cop just said whatever and not been so quick to anger.

Both are wrong in one way or another I suppose.

Also, don't trust any lawyers brother. If you ever get falsely accused you just call your good pal FDC and I will hook you up. :0008 (Since you and I don't always see eye to eye a quick disclaimer to let you know I meant this as light-hearted humour)

Hope this helps,

FDC: blah blah blah blah

AP: no way blah blah

FDC: you know blah blah

AP: i think blah blah blah blah

WTF is that? How necessary is it for you to start shit again after you just got fucking banned for a day and a half for the exact same shit. Not one person addressed you and you still start stirring the shit. Quit being a fucking dickhead.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Not trying to change anybody's mind, just giving my opinion.

The police are not following correct protocol so I agree that this guy who made the video is correct and courageous to stand up to these rogue cops.

This is exactly what I was thinking the whole time.

Count me on the side that considers the kid deserving of being "harassed" by the cops, even if the over-zealous first one was out of line.

I'm actually surprised that any cop isn't more prepared for this as it is the new "thing" it seems. I would expect any police department, no matter how small, that is setting up a checkpoint to be ready that you come across something similar.

Where it is real F ing COLD
I was expecting much worse. I guess I don't have the balls to fuck with the police. I roll the window down and go about my business. I think the dog tactic was out of line but it goes to show that if you fuck with the police they will fuck with you back. I personally am not a big fan of local city cops, the county cops I think are great up here.

Now I went through and read all the comments. I think it would be a shame if the cop faced severe disciplinary action. Was he a dick, yeah maybe but it could of been much worse.

Not to make an excuse for the officer but dealing with pricks, trying to keep drunks off the road is a stressful job and I can see how easy it would be to get pissy with a smartass

It amazes me that the same group who argue against any form of gun control because of the VAGUE 2nd Amendment are now saying this kid is being a dick for not wanting his CLEAR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS to not be violated.

What's sad is that Cops dont even try to hide the fact that they are violating your constitutional right to not be detained or searched without probable cause, hell they have to have at least a reasonable suspension that a crime is being committed to investigate further.

Was the kid a prick? Yes, but hell like I said when those LEGAL Hispanics were doing this type of thing and we argued about it in 2011.

While I understand it is simple for most on here to think they were just causing trouble, I'd disagree, just like most thought Rosa Parks was just causing trouble when she wouldn't move to the back of the bus, it would have been simpler if she just followed the "rules". Some things don't change without discourse.

The article you quoted goes on to report that the Police are investigating the incident to see if any action is necessary and no charges are filed against the kid. All sides seem to agree that the officer was abusing his position.

"Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold has said he stands by Deputy Ross and believes the officer did nothing wrong."

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...-21-year-old-now-admits-he-planned-the-video/

"The 21-year-old Tennessee man who became a viral sensation after recording a stop at a DUI checkpoint over the 4th of July holiday is now admitting that he did plan the confrontation. The information comes as the Tennessee Highway Patrol has released a nearly 30-minute dashcam video from one of its officers showing the incident."

"The video showed Ross ask Kalbaugh if he had any drugs, open containers or weapons. Soon they brought over a drug dog, which ?hit? on one of the car?s door handles. Inside, they found two beer bottle caps and traces of drugs.
?There?s a few seeds in the passenger seat of marijuana,? Ross said.
?That?s not from me,? Kalbaugh replied.
?Okay, well I?m just telling you what?s in the car,? said Ross. ?My advice is clean the car out.?
Kalbaugh insisted he bought his car used last year and doesn?t smoke marijuana or any kind of drugs."

why in the fuck would he or anyone have such a big beef about rolling your window down to talk to a cop who is working a checkpoint to make the roads safer?

he refused to roll it all the way down because he just wanted to be a dick and challenge the authority of the cop and challenge his rights.

s.

rolling down the window is a classic way for cops to smell your breath better and lean in for any weed aroma . They want to arrest you if they can.

its best not to fawk with cops at checkpoints.

you will not win

Police Readying First Amendment Zones To Quell Possible Zimmerman Backlash

July 12, 2013 5:14 PM

MIAMI (CBS4) ? Unsure of how the public will react following the verdict in the George Zimmerman murder trial, local leaders and police are working closely to establish designated areas where people can gather peacefully.

Two First Amendment Zones will be ready to go whenever the decision comes down from the jury in Sanford.

Authorities are encouraging anyone who wants their voice to be heard to gather in these zones, instead of taking to the streets and inciting riots.

.......................................................................

This is classic

the cops sit down and have a meeting.

what are we going to do if Zimmer walks and they start rioting and tearing up the city ?

Uhhh I got a idea and I think it will work.

OK lets hear it.

We set up first amendment zones.

huh

Yeh anyone that wants to discuss things can go there and not be bothered. It will keep everyone in one area where we can deal with them. Pepper spray and water cannon if we need to. The dumb fucks can be herded into paddys like sheep.
\

yeh lets do that. First amendment zones. Why didnt I think of that.

holy fuck me Tilly

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/07/11/dui-viral-video-sheriff-speaks/2509881/

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- After a six-day silence, the Rutherford County (Tenn.) Sheriff said he fully supports Deputy A.J. Ross' actions in the DUI checkpoint video posted by the Libertarian Party that went viral.

The video, filmed by Middle Tennessee State University student Chris Kalbaugh as he was stopped at a Tennessee Highway Patrol DUI checkpoint, showed Ross in a verbal altercation with Kalbaugh. The video posted July 4 went viral after it was posted by libertarianrepublic.com. The junior accuses Ross of violating his constitutional rights during a checkpoint stop.

The video, Sheriff Robert Arnold said Thursday, left out Ross' discovery of marijuana shakings in Kalbaugh's door handle and two marijuana seeds in his backseat.

STORY: Tenn. deputy in viral DUI video once resigned post

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Department released a full dash-cam video of the incident.

"So far we have found that A.J. (Ross) has done no wrongdoing," said Arnold.

In the video, Ross asks Kalbaugh to roll down his window farther, and Kalbaugh refuses, saying it's fine where it is. When Kalbaugh continues to challenge Ross' demands, Ross orders him to pull his car over and step out. Later, a drug dog searches the outside of car, then inside.

Kalbaugh was allowed to leave and received no citations.

Arnold said Ross' response to Kalbaugh was completely appropriate and in accordance with the force continuum, the system officers use to gauge the best reaction escalation to a situation.

Arnold said Kalbaugh has told them he would not file any complaint against Ross and denied the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office's request for his full video.

At a checkpoint, officers need to be able to smell the driver's breath, see pupils and hear slurred speech, the sheriff said.

He described Kalbaugh's video as "one-sided" and said it is damaging to the fragile public trust.

"I still encourage (Kalbaugh) to put out the unedited version," Arnold said. "According to Deputy Ross, when he found the camera, he picked it up and he points it right there and says, "This is why the dog alerted on your car, these are marijuana grainlets."

Years ago, Arnold said, he was active in the local Libertarian party and said he finds the backlash "ironic."
