Every game in the FIFA World Cup is important, but in the group stage, there are many who believe that the opening game is the one that can determine the fate of every team. After all, only 12% of teams who lose that opening game are able to move on to the next round, a stat that is sure to make for chilling reading for the players of Poland and Colombia. Those two teams came in as the clear favorites to move on from Group H, but both are now in desperate need of a win after falling to defeat in their openers. The manner of defeat may have been different for Colombia and Poland, but their needs are very much the same as they head into Matchday 2 in Group F. Nothing but a win will really do, although a tie may keep them both alive by the very slimmest of margins, depending of course on what happens in the other game between Senegal and Japan. There is no margin for error for either of these teams, so look for them both to come out on a positive note as they go searching for the win that would keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Why bet on Poland

Poland looked as though they were caught somewhat unawares by the speed of their opponent in their 2-1 loss to Senegal. They were perhaps a little unfortunate to go behind on a wildly deflected shot that found the net, but the entire gamer turned with the arrival of the second goal, which was highly controversial. You do need to give the Poles some credit for continuing to fight after going 2-0 down, and they did make things interesting by pulling one back later in the game. The biggest problem for Poland in their opener was that they simply did not create enough scoring opportunities, with Robert Lewandowski, one of the best strikers in the world, not getting a sniff at goal throughout. They need to find a way to get him more involved, otherwise this trip to Russia is going to be a short one.

Why bet on Colombia

It?s tough to get a real idea of what Colombia are about right now, as they were forced to play 86 minutes of their opening game down a man. They also played for much of the game without James Rodriguez, who was not fit and ready to go. When he did come on, he didn?t really have an opportunity to make an impact on the game. My guess is that Rodriguez will be on from the start in what is essentially a must-win game for Colombia. One positive note from the opening game was the fighting spirit displayed by this team. They could easily have folded after going a goal and a man down so early, but they were able to level things up before the man disadvantage took its toll late on.
