I hope he is suspended for the rest of the playoffs, that was a cheap shot all the way!!!!!

Thanks for one thing though, this should motivate the Habs to win even more!!!!

My own opinion...The hit was on the cheap side but I don't think you will see too much in the way of retaliation from Montreal. Everyone is talking tough right now and that's the emotions boiling to the surface. The key is that the series is still tied 2-2 and there is still a lot at stake. Both teams, especially Montreal, will have to do a very good job at controlling their emotions. I would expect both refs that get tomorrows gig to call EVERYTHING to set the tone of no bulls--t in this one. Maybe, if the Bruins win Saturday afternoon and they are winning Monday night similiar to last nights score, things could get real ugly - especially Monday because the game will be back on Canadien home ice.

If Montreal gets to the brink of elimination in either games 6 or 7, that's when you could see some cheap shots from the Canadien side. If they are looking at nothing but golf for 3 months, retaliation & frustration could come to the surface.

I'd also be surprised to see anything more than a fine and a maximum of 3 games suspension. Unlike the Domi hit from last year that the Canadiens are comparing it to, Zednik was the puck carrier and involved with the play. Last year, if I remember correctly, Neidermayer wasn't in the play or the play had already come out of the zone and that was why Domi was hit with the hard suspension.

We all know what side of the tracks I come from so chances are I'm quite biased on if McLaren should even be suspended. He's not a dirty player - been in the league for 6/7 years and I honestly don't know if he's ever been suspended. I don't think he has been. He plays hard and I think he had Zednik lined up but was going to get burned so he stuck the arm out to not let him in 1 on 1 with Dafoe. It was definitely a high hit but Zednik should have seen him coming - he was carrying the puck.

Opinions are welcome.

the hit

the hit

did not involve the boards
did not use his stick
was not from behind
was not away from the play
did not go out of his way to "get" him.

Everyone in hockey knows that cutting across the middle is probably the easiest way to get hurt. Yes that was a nasty elbow, but like I said it wasn't from behind, and it wasn't stickwork.(Unlike the Montreal player who later on slashed Boston's Goalie across the back of his leg, while he was in his crease) In my mind that is worse. It is from behind, using a stick, and going out of his way, away from the play, to do it.

These guys know exactly what they're doing when they go to hit someone...Zednik has been giving giving Boston fits all series, I just can't accept that this was a 'clean' hit that went bad. There is no question in my mind that Mclaren intended to seriously injure. After all, there's no clean way to administer a clothesline, is there?. It's a dirty, dirty play. McLeren should be suspended for as long as it takes Zednik to recover.
