I'm not a USC fan, but because of geography I do follow the Pac-10 more than most other conferences. USC is the real deal. UNLV in the Tark days may not have played in the "best conference", but they were among the best teams in the country year in, year out.
Remember, Miami in their perfect championship year eeked out a few victories. They would've probably lost to Boston College if not for Ed Reed's play.
Pete Carroll has a heck of a team and they play extremely hard. Norm Chow's a genius, the defense is speedy.
USC just beat a Top 5 team in Michigan, they will be the AP #1 team when it's all said and done, and perhaps because of a contract between the BCS and coaches, they won't be #1 in the BCS rankings. And that's a shame any way you look at it.
