Scott,
I'm not sure what you're ranting about. I never stated an opinion of any kind. What exactly do I need to back up? I simply pointed out the FACT that the SEC has a higher percentage of its teams ranked in the top 25 (than the PAC 10) every year. This has been going on for the past 40 years. That fact is NOT my opinion.
The last 2 paragraphs in my post were not specifically directed to you. I separated them with large space but I was clear about it. You are right that it is a fact the SEC has more teams ranked in the top 25. But I think that is a weak argument "IF" people want to use that as a criteria for SEC being a vastly superior conf.
When someone states their opinion, you can support it with facts or explain why you feel that way. My post was to those who say the SEC is #1 but that is all they say. That shows me a sign of zero intelligence and a worthless post. Who cares if you think the SEC is #1 or superior to the Pac 10. Explain "why" you think that way.

You claim the reason for this is because the poles are based on nothing but wins. That, my friend, is YOUR OPINION. How about backing up that opinion? Please show all of us - beyond a shadow of a doubt - how the polesters across the nation are "forced" to rank SEC teams higher than PAC 10 teams.
Nobody is forced to rank anybody. But the more wins a team has the higher ranked you are. Pollsters do not really take in account who a team plays or where a team plays. If team A was ranked #10 in country and team B was ranked #15, and Team A traveled to USC and lost vs Team B played at home and beat div. 1aa school, Team A most likely would get bumped past team B. Why? WINS! I would NEVER put team B ahead of team A. I might put "other" teams ahead, but def. not team B. If you are a big fan of CFB, you know this type of an example happens ALL the time in the polls.
gjn23 brought up a good point and it is true.
watch any poll after a sec team loses to another sec team...their drop in the rankings is insignificant.....when a pac-10 team loses to another pac-10 team, the drop is huge (same applies in hoops as well)......it called a built in pre-conceived notion that conf x is much better than conf y.
POLLS are based on wins/losses. Pollsters usually don't watch football all day and half of them prob. don't even stay up to watch west coast football. I don't have problem with that but west coast teams "shouldn't" get penalized for it. So if "all" the pollsters are watching say "SEC" games and half the pollsters are watching "Pac 10" games, which conf. is going to get more respect? FYI, USC is the only west coast team that gets respect from east coast. Washington gets some respect but they don't get nearly same respect as USC. Other west coast teams get ZERO respect. Look at Heisman Trophy's, polls, BCS NC games etc to support that statement.
Same as BOWL TEAMS! Get 6 wins against div. 1a schools and you are bowl eligible. Doesn't matter who you play or where you play, just get those 6 wins. You know each conf. is guaranteed a min. bowl allotment. So if "someone" tries to compare # SEC bowl teams vs # Pac 10 Bowl teams, that is a "flawed" argument.
