Why? so you can say I told you so to whoever wrote it? I have no idea who wrote what thread or what it contained, but what's so great about the A's?

They still have a longshot at best of making the playoffs. They are 6.5 games out of their division and 2.5 games out of the wild card with the yankees and minnesota and baltimore all ahead of them.

I actually like the A's and they have played decent lately, but its not like their a deserving playoff team or anything.

gl with your plays

I've got no problem admitting they've done a remarkable job turning things around since that thread. But I've never had a problem with the A's as a team; my only issue is the arrogance that came across with Lewis and Beane.

But no question the A's are playing solid ball.

lots of season left..anyone can get hot for a little while

Oakland have been playing good ball for a little more than "a little while". A's have the best record in the Majors since May 31st (that's almost two whole months, going 34-11 or something like that). Obviously it helped getting Crosby (.885 OPS) back in the lineup and Rich Harden back in the rotation. Harden has proved himself as one of baseball's best pitchers, also Danny Haren and Joe Blanton has pitched with more consistency the last couple of months. Zito has also been excellent. However, since the team started out so poorly, it can't afford to get into a cold streak down the stretch. Especially with the Angels having a decent lead in the division and with several decent clubs in the wildcard-hunt. It will be interesting to see if they are able to keep it up.

He probably does not want to say i told you so,more then anything,he probably wants to say don`t count a team out of it 60 games into the season that its a 162 game grind and that anything can happen in a long drawn out season.
You contradicted yourself slightly in your quote.
You open up by saying what`s so great about the A`s? You answer your question by saying they have played decent lately.
They sure have 25-8 in their last 33 and pitching is the key (team era 3.87).
What is a deserving playoff team?
I believe they are a better team then the twins and the orioles.
And for the yankees, well they have issues for sure.
And for being a longshot to make the playoffs,i don`t think so at all. There odds are shortening up with every win.
Twins and orioles both lose, they can pick up ground again in the wild card standings with a win.

good luck
