ND is going to the BCS and it's all about the money. ND is simply a bigger draw than the other teams. I hope none of you are business men.

exactly

what will be the two biggest bowl games that the avg. fan will watch?

the rose bowl
the notre dame bowl

in years where the rose bowl is not the champ game.....it still is the first or second most highly watched bowl game....

Just checked they do the bcs get to pick 2 teams from top 10 in bcs standing if those teams did not win auto conf birth and here is the rankings till this monday of at large teams in top 10.

ohio.st 6th bcs rank all are the bsc ranks
orgeon # 7th
n.dame # 8th
miami # 9th
auburn #10

this is till monday so sometings could change in votes and the pc ranking which has n.dame not even in the top 10, so you have 5 teams who can be picked as one of the 2 at large teams and if ucla would win they would move into top 10 on bsc they are at 12 and va.tech is at 5th and lsu 3rd all those last 3 teams could make it even harder if 1 wins ucla and 2 lsu and va.tech lose you would have 8 teams beacuse lsu and va.tech have so many points they could not drop from bsc top 10 same as tex if they would lose then would have 9 teams in top 10 for 2 at large spots auburn would get bumped out if lsu or va,tech goes down and wvu will be 10th they are 11th now not far behind auburn, there will be no less then 5 teams to choose 2 spots and how can you take n.dame over orgeon who is above them in bcs poll and ohio st above both, n.dame has the money factor but oregon would get the screw job n.dame won't jump oregon in points come monday. this is why i just do games and not follow all the bcs stuff just give me the match ups to the bowls and i will do my work from there really don't care who is number 1 i care who wins for me but still on bsc stats orgeon gets screwed if bcs takes n.dame because they are ranked higher in bcs then n.dame.

and to think they just created another bowl game this year here in san diego....the poinsettia bowl (what?)

this year it's navy vs col state

if this weren't such a navy town the attendance would be a joke....and still might be....but imagine some other match-up...yikes.....

holiday bowl always draws well (save for asu and k-state visits....nobody here cares much for them) but another bowl 1 week earlier....this thing has a life of about 3 years.

Bunch of guys in bad plaid jackets figuring out whose alumni are going to fill hotel rooms, drink tons of expensive booze and sample the local entertainment. Also, TV ratings are paramount. All of these point to the wealthy well traveled ND vs. the Beavers. Enjoy the Crucial.com bowl Beavers! Or maybe the Wieser Lock Copper bowl?

No way they will be left out because of $ and fighting Alumni. Think there are better teams but in the end $ win out! It will be all about money! IMHO

where does it say that the at large teams are selected based on who is ranked higher in the bcs standings????

is oregon getting screwed...maybe, maybe not...personally i think notre dame is better and ohio state (and auburn) is a coin flip....BUT it comes down to money, ratings and travel.....and notre dame wins almost every time

No Fletcher check the link I posted. 9 wins and Top 12 makes a team eligible. They can take any two that qualify regardless of pecking order, unless there are teams in Top 4 that didnt win conference or top 6 froma non BCS conference. That is why Texas and Utah went last year instead of Cal.

Oh and one final thing, don't forget us.....The Bettors of the World. We keep this thing going because we are the only ones watching the Humanitarian Bowl on 12-27 between Clemson and UTEP. Advertisers like to sell stuff to Gamblers too.

i read that damn thing 3 times and last time i saw the 12 teams i was not saying they picked in order i meant they had the choice but orgeon was ranked higher then n.dame but no way could they ever bring the fans n.dame does but still and trust me far from a orgeon fan but they can score some points at time i say they should go at 10-1 over a 9-2 team whenbsc poll has them ranked above n.dame what is the kicker check out the pc ranking of n.dame. and roger i will never watch utep again after today, but i would watch bc on new years eve if i was not going to be at the sugar bowl. the one time bcs thinks they have it right something still goes wrong down the ladder least they will have 1 vs 2 or hope so, but bottom line is money and fans who travel well and i said that at around 11 am today. just wanted to get peoples thoughts from all over and not one bit of mud slinging which was good, i like watching bosie play in their bowl each year on the blue rug best bowl out there for action and big schools going against mid major almost every year in it. holiday bowl always seems to have major points. those are 2 i like, peach bowl always seems to be deff battle and hard to watch.

thanks for input and thanks for not knocking another persons thoughts or their conf.

Portland.OR.
being a duck fan and season ticket holder id luv to see oregon go...however unfortunately it aint gonna happen....fiesta gets 1st pick and they will take nd....orange gets next pick and they theyll take penn st....leaving ohio st,oregon and auburn for the fiesta to pick from....they will almost certainly pick ohio st. simply becuz of the draw and there is more national recognition of ohio states program than oregons.....and the fact that 3 out of the 5 fiesta committee geeks have ties to ohio st...one is alumni....politics and money....u figure it out.....fiesta bowl will be nd vs. ohio st.....nuff said

C'mon now. This Bowl is big for ASU. The first ever in school's history. If it's such $hit, why are you wasting your valuable time betting on it?
Until there's a playoff, this is all non-BCS schools can hang on to.

But 3 times in 4 years will politically look real bad. All sorts of backroom deals happen but I dont see a way for Fiesta to get out. Would Orange take Ohio State and let Fiesta have Penn State to make it look good? Could well work to Oregon's advantage.

whats more intriguing to me is

if sc or texas lose next weekend should psu (or lsu) jump over them and get into the bcs title game???

if yes...why? because sc-texas loss happend on dec 4th and not in nov-oct-sept....who cares it's still a 1 loss team vs a one loss team......is a 10-1 psu better than a 11-1 sc or texas???

It's the one major problem i've had with college football....if you lose earlier in the season you're deemed more worthy than a team the loses later in the season....WHY?

I'd argue that a loss by texas would help psu more than a loss by sc just because of them team they would lose to...a bad colorado team vs a top-12 bcs team in ucla......but still.....is does this one loss make psu a better team than usc-texas......obviously is didnt effect nebrasks and ou the past few years when they lost their title game but still made the bcs champ game (hmmmm big 12 teams) but could it happen this year?

that's my point...great it's a big game for arkansas state and the 2500 people they will bring to the game....other than the 25k that will be in attendance...who else cares about these games????

gamblers

bowls have become a commodity and not a reward for good seasons....good god some conf have tie ins for the 7th place teams....."congrats, you finished 7th out of 11, you get to go to a bowl game"
