I have to like Bama here.

The Rainbows are just awful when they play on the road.

I know they are supposed to be much improved, but Bama is a very solid team at home.

I actually think the game ends very close to the line.

I like Bama by about 20.

As an SEC follower, I've got to disagree. Bama has 3 runningbacks hurt, a new QB,and a thin line.

I'd take UH, but it would be wise to lay off this game. Hawaii on the mainland, lots of turnover in the Bama personel for the first game. Anything could happen. I see Bama betating them easily, but I think they may start off a little too sluggish to cover.

Questions linger on offensive line

TUSCALOOSA - Less than a week before Saturday's opener against Hawaii, Alabama's offensive line remains unsettled.

Coach Mike Shula said following Sunday's practice that he was unsure who would start at the two guard positions after minor injuries have plagued the line. The expected starting guards, sophomore B.J. Stabler and junior Justin Britt, have been slowed with injuries in recent days. Stabler, in fact, was held out of practice Sunday.

And the top backup at guard, sophomore Marlon Davis, was also sidelined Sunday because of an injury.

"B.J. came into camp as one of our starting guards," Shula said. "If he's ready to go, we'll look at him. If not, then Marlon."

A positive from the injuries is that redshirt freshman Mike Johnson has gotten extensive work in practice.

=============

Injury report: Kicker Jamie Christensen was held out of practice Sunday as he continued to nurse a groin injury sustained Aug. 14.

"Jamie Christensen probably could have gone today but we kept him out and he should be ready to go by Tuesday," Shula said. If he is unable to go against Hawaii, freshman walk-on Leigh Tiffin will get the call.

I think Hawaii is one of the best bets on the Week 1 board and I will be playing the Warriors 5x.

I am an alabama grad and I the ? is not at qb jp wilson will be the best weve seen out of alabama in a while. Were deep at rb but the ? will be at oline on how much protection he gets. I think it will be a very entertaining game as alabama will play sluggish for a half then put them away. Dont forget we just added on another 10000 seats so hawaii has never seen anything like this atmosphere. 90 plus thousand? i personally would lay off this game because if we get up 14 shula could sit on it and never beat the line but who knows.

If looking at a game, look at TN, they're the suprise sec team this year.

good luck

I don't know if Auburn "rolls" the SEC, but they do have one of the more favorable schedules.... They get LSU, Ark, Ga and Florida at home...with only 4 road trips to the 2 Mississippi schools, So. Carolina and the Iron Bowl. If they catch a few breaks along the way, I could foresee Auburn having an undefeated season and playing for the NC...but they will have to catch a few breaks along the way. It's very difficult to go unbeaten in the SEC.

...and I will predict a 7-5 (or 8-4) season for Arkansas.

I dont get the Auburn fascination. They play in the toughest conference, have only 11 starters back, none of which are at offensive tackle, defensive line or wide receiver, and looked pretty bad in their bowl game against a very average Wisconsin team. Yes they have a favorable schedule, but still....

I love Hawii here. They have a great QB even though he's a convict lol, and will definately put up points. Bama is good but I just don't know how they will even score 17 points knowing them from last year....Hawii is good for at least 10 if not 17 and I will GUARENTEE BAMA DOESN"T SCORE 30, but if they do somehow this game will turn into a shootout (in my opinion) and will favor the rainbow warriors....expect a lot of running from bama and a lot of time to be eaten up.

I do think that Hawaii covers...and I agree that Bama will run the ball and eat clock, but BAMA will probably score more than 30...hell, they'll have to to beat Hawaii. If you want to see how the new rule changes affect the game, this is the game to watch.... Hawaii games may be shorter this year with the clock changes.

Predicted final: Alabama 35 Hawaii 24

...and I'm not trying to hype Auburn. I'm just saying that as far as SEC schedules go, they've got one of the better ones. Sometimes it not all about talent on the field, but the breaks along the way. I think that scheduling plays a huge part in that respect...but that's just my opinion.

Definitely knew something was fishy with this line, but after loking at alot of angles I couldnt figure it out, I said is it the over? with the incredible firepower of UH, but they are playing on the mainland and against a D that is very good.
Then I thought the under, but UH D is pretty bad and i know bama has very solid RBs for this year so bama could easily pound the ball down the field all day, and with UH offense i dont think under is the play.

But after reading some of year commets i definitely think UH +17 is the play despite their poor mainland record, i think they have an offense that can find its way into the endzone a few times, and if Bama is pounding the ball that clock is going to run out before they totally wear out UH Dline.

Alabama is going to run run run but watch out for some passing too. JP Wilson will be a suprise and they have a guy by the name of Johns who will be running back some but was qb all throu high school so some trick plays might be in store.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the value here. The line looks pretty accurate and you've got question marks on both sides of the ball. Leave this play for the masses.

Agree, This number seems to be right on. I personnally would lean slightly on BAMA, and the reasons being. Given UH turnover record on the mainland and Bama's Defencsive tendensy to score points, should account for 10- 17pts. Put that with Bama'a running game and a very talentented JP Wilson at QB(who will surprise many people this year). Also, being Bama's home opener at a newly renavated stadium which now seats 90K plus, stadium will be rock'n.

All that being said there are better games out there this opening weekend. GL and to a good Year!
