Tells a group of young people to get their college education or they'll end up stuck in Iraq.

Definitely a backhanded slam on people who are in the military.

As if the military is full of a bunch of castoffs who couldn't hack college.

Dumbass.

Wow. When/Where did this happen. Been to busy today to check up on the news. What an unbelievable bastard. I hope no one comes in this thread and tries to defend such an insulting remark.

Kerry '08! Jesus....

I admit he is about the stupidest man alive but.....if there is a draft......and they are calling another 100,000.......might not be a bad idea. It worked for Cheney.

For sure Kosar.
And hopefully this will be the nail in his canidacy coffin.

My buddy dropped out of college to go fight in Iraq. I went and saw him get married right before he left and the next time I saw him, he was missing a leg.
I am sure that this story goes for many across America and I dont think he can squirm his was out of this one.

What a Moron! Can't keep his yap shut. How did he even think that one up. We've got illegal aliens, 40-50 year olds, gang bangers and every other bad thing you can think of. Everybody knows that, don't brag about it. Accusing that horse face of aiding the enemy is a valid talking point. The GOP can sleep well tonight.

A couple of thoughts...first and foremost it was a very poor choice of words, and if - as he says - it was an attempt to ridicule Bush and his failed policies with a joke that failed, then it was a bad idea, and a very bad joke attempt.

Kerry is pretty specific most of the time with his words, and a very good speaker. He should know better than to mess around with words like this, especially at such a crucial time for his party.

However, I don't think for one second his intent was to undermine the value or intellect of troops in Iraq now, or in general. I've heard a few veterans and current soldiers call in ranting about this and saying they were offended. At face value, i guess I could see it, but considering that Kerry is a veteran, he would essentially be saying that about himself, and I just don't think that makes sense.

I don't have military service to draw from, so I am not speaking for anyone other than my opinion. I can see how those here that served could take offense, but thinking it through, I don't think Kerry was ripping or saying the troops are not smart - or whatever that point is. I just don't think so.

Bad decision, bad words, bad timing. He deserves criticism on many fronts, I agree. And I, too, hope Kerry and Gore are not a part of the democratic candidate scene this year.

He continues to pile them on--
Chad I do agree his intent was surely not to infer everyone in military is stupid--but I could not see poor choice of words fall on more deserving fellow.
His intent was however when leaving service to diss the soilders there referring to them as reminiscent of Ghengis Khan.
Won't rehash how he was trapped into having to serve on land while being in Navy and his tactics of getting out of dodge in less than 3 months--there is movie showing now "Flags of Our Fathers"
--the life stories of the six men who raised the flag at The Battle of Iwo Jima.
Wonder what all the vets would think if they knew Kerry 1st book when returning from viet nam --dipicted 6 hippies flying flag up side down on cover.
I would donate $1,000 to Hiliary's campaign if I knew it would keep this asshole out of the running.
while I'm not that high on Hilliary :) --there is nothing I hate worse than one with Kerry's "real" military history--saluting and saying reporting for duty.

NITWITS NITWITS NITWITS
What he said if you are not educated about Iraq than you get stuck in iraq. This is the same thing Bill Mahre said on how Bush was not educated on Iraq before starting a war with them and now Bush has us stuck in Iraq. This had nothing to do with the troops. When you mind can be spun like a child no wonder we are in the Crisis we are in today. NO wonder Florida ranks last in SAt scores. talk about jumping to conclussions. this is so sad that you let spinning of words munipulate your brain. Nitwit.

It's seems to becoming a 'He said, no he said". Kerry was alluding to the fact that Bush bought his education and is sort of stupid. What a secret. Bush is coming back that Kerry's grades weren't so hot either. It'll blow away as a "One Day Issue"
No matter, Kerry is a loser, why is he even talking?

My personal belief is that many of those who signed up for Iraq got swept up in the patriotic emotions after 9-11 which were fueled by the lies of the Bush administration. I feel sorry for those that paid the ultimate price or were permanently injured based upon falsehoods.

The only way family members can justify such losses is too dive deeper into patriotism and support this criminal. It would be impossible to bear that you lost a son so that Halliburton could get a nice return this year. I think it would be impossible to justify such a loss.

I don't think the soldiers were stupid. I think its the way the world has been since the beginning of time. The rich send the poor to fight their battles and protect their wealth. They dupe them with lies and patriotic fervor whether its God, country, or the newest fear, terrorism.

Truth is Eddie, Eddie is truth, that is all ye know, and all ye need to know.

Who really needs to apologize now is that scumbag president who knows very well that Kerry was talking about him and not the troops. Out there pounding his chest taking credit for a bunch of half truths. These guys will do anything to stay in power and are some of the most dispicable people this world has ever come across and for people who think this is Kerrys fault deserve this type of leadership. The only fault of Kerry's that i see here is he shouldn't say anything because the stupid nitwits in this coyuntry can have there minds played like a paino. No wonder the democrats never fight back. saying something like this and then seeihg ten guys jumping on their backs sums it right up. the daily mirror summed it up "how can 55 million people be so dam stupid" It must be awful to not have the ability to see right thru this bullshit.

His own crowd could barely manage an obligatory chuckle. Idiot.

Now Bush is running with it, pretending to be all dignified and outraged. The games go on and on. I wish Bush was half as angry and protective about soldiers being in the line of fire as he appears to be over an insult from a has been politician.

Am I the only one to see the irony in his angry reply, "The military is plenty smart." I wish our president spoke English and studied geography a bit more.

Bush is the draft dodger who ran against two war heroes McCain and Kerry and made them look like they were wrong and he was right. So the stupidity of the American people never surprises me.
From those of you outraged just what did Kerry say that was wrong. It wasn't PC, that we can all agree on but was it wrong? Go to college and there is a good chance you won't find your ass in Iraq. Like I said before it was a strategy that worked for Cheney.

Not a good choice of words no question

Not a good choice of words no question

but according to a friend of mine....Army captain who volunteered to go look for WMd's......and got sucked in a 2nd time just back says the
guys over there now are a large number of hillbillies that were in the reserves and guard to get some extra cash to keep their trailers or school buses going. The officers are guys that could not get promoted here in the states are there now to get rank. The good competent officers have left 1st chance they got................His words not mine.
Also mentioned that the guys there have huge dental problems..guess mainly because of the impoverished areas they come from.
According to him the place and the army is a mess.
A far cry from the caliber of people he went over there with the invasion.

Don't shoot me i'm just the messenger.
