Hudson Valley area.....NY
After many years my picture tube on my TV is going.Going to enter the 21st century and buy...what...have no idea..do I want plasma..LCD...HDTV...DLP....
Went to best Buy and Circuit city and get a little confused.
looking at a 42-in or should I go for a 46-in.is the plasma the clearest picture.. sometimes the pictures look a little squashed..not sure how to explain..
This TV is for the living room. Kids are to old to play video games,etc..
I know many of you here have them.some suggestions. I know in past posts it has been discussed..I looked but couldn't find them.

Box my brother has a 63 inch i think. You are like me with this stuff. Let me tell you this tho once you see a show in HD you wont mind how much you spend. its incredible. I know a few guys in here that have these TV's so they should be a big help. I swear if there was a dime on a football field you can see it. If you are ever thinking about playing hookie from work and have good seats to a ball game you better wear a disguise because you can see the first 50 rows in the stands no problem. Man and i was never big into cheerleaders in pro sports but with HD you can see their abs and everything else that is bare.

Go to Costco on Black Friday, should get a good deal there. BJs Warehouse would be another good option, but I prefer Costco for obvious return policy. Best buy and Circuit City are not a good place to buy TV's. They'll rip you off.

Box-Man. Second the "The Boys" recommendation of Vizio for a great TV. Bought one at Walmart. 37 inch for 999.00 Manager of electronics said they outsale Panasonici & Sony 3-1
without as much return
problems. It`s great. Gave couple highschool kids
20$ to bring it &set it up(took about 20 minutes)
Got it it our family room in the basement on a
stand.Looks great.

personally I really did not like the Samsung...my friend bought one and returned it within days because it pretty much sucked...

I would very highly recommend the TV I have although it does seem to be a bit out of your price range...you will have no regrets if you go for it tho...

Not sure what happened with your buddy but i love my Samsung. Sony and Samsung have a joint venture in the production of their LCDs and use the same parts. I saw zero quality difference for a couple hundred bucks cheaper price. Both sweet tubes though

I should re-phrase that I guess. The samsung didn't suck, but I did think the sony was better. I noticed a difference, that's all. It definitely doesn't suck to have a nice 40" LCD flat panel TV in your house no matter what the company.

I do wonder what the hell that little noise is when you turn the samsung on tho
