Bought a 42" Samsung Plasma at Circuit City for $1499 last month. They had it advertised for $1999 (on Sale) but they matched an email offer I received from Fry's Electronics. The salesperson told me the image quality was better than sony's so I went with it. No complaints here.

go to SAMS CLUB...I beat the bushes for 2 solid weeks...and i don't play when it comes to bang for my entertainment buck...
use the web...find the 2 or 3 closest Sams Clubs near you...huge savings if you look everyday and catch big discount on particular tv's...
Secondly check Costco as well...

Box and one,

Go see these mothers in person...just a guess on my part but if you buy a 42-46 ..inside a couple weeks you will wish you had a 60

...from 10 ft. away a 52 to 60 is awesome..

if you don't have a membership to one or all just get a buddy who has and go to the stores with him...

good luck in your search....

lcd tv's have the worst picture of the current technologies and horrible motion artifact. unfortunately for the consumer, they are the brightest and "look best in the store."

picture quality:

1. crt
2. lcos
3. plasma
4. dlp

5. lcd

Box,
I have a Sony 46 LCD and the picture is not matched. Everyone that stops by my house is in amazement of the clarity and picture, "Like were sitting at the game"

P.S. Are we going to get a holiday gift together to help Herb out again this year? Least we can do ... come on Box , time for the 'thankless' Santa to take charge

Whatever you do, BIGGER THE BETTER !

I have had a 51" SONY CRT for a few years now and wish I at least went with a 55", and I have a small living room...

BOX my first hd tv was the sony kdf-e50a10
a 50" lcd projection tv. A year later I bought a sony kdf-e42a10 a 42" lcd projection for my bedroom. I reserched tv's for about 6 months for I bought these. It depends what price you want to spend. You will find the best deals at circiut city or best buy. They have better prices than the wholesale outlets. Another thing you need to check before you buy is warranties. There is a big range of pricing at different stores. That is one of the reasons I went with sony because I got a 5yr warranty through sony for $279. This does not how ever cover the bulb but you can get the bulb for 199.99. As for lcd or dlp everyone I have talked to said it is in the eye of the beholder. Just check them out at several different places and see which you think looks the best. My eye said sports looked better in lcd. The prices have come down a bunch in the last year. I paid $2250 for my 50" and you can get it now for $1799.
There is nothing better than sports in HD.
Good luck!

a friend of mine is sony dealer and he was just over measuring my wall to see which tv will work best. i am opting for a 60 inch 'grand wega' model kds 60-a2000. it is a rear projection hdtv. he has the 70inch but my space is too small for it. anyone familiar with this model?
