Nice bike In The Black. Just curious..is the crash bar (engine gaurd) painted or powder coated?
IMHO wrenching your own bike is the only way to go for me. You would not believe the bucks you save. When I did the wifes 1250 conversion the parts cost $850. The dealerhip wanted $2300 to put a 1200 kit on her bike. I put a tach on her bike and paid $280 vs the $550 the dealer wanted.
Trust me...you do not have to be a master mechanic to work on your own bike. I also like the idea of knowing everything is being checked at the service intervals. Nothing against dealership mechanics but by doing it myself I know for a fact everything is being done.
As far as voiding the warranty..I cant see that happening by adding your own accesories. The only problem I may have is with the wifes bike (motor only) because of the conversion. But then they would have to show that i did something wrong. The bike runs like a champ so no worries there.
If you want to see how easy it is to work on your bike check out my post on when I did the wifes bike.

Its broken down into 4 days. The whole process can be done in a day.
Doubledown...I only run synth in the tranny. Local HD nechanic actually told me this is the only hole that I needed to put it in. He told me he would recommend Redline. It looks like Peptobismol and has the same consistency. There is alot less "clunk" when putting the bike into 1st now. Shifting thru the rest of the gears seems smoother also.
Ricknjax..Make sure to post some pics when your get your bike back.
