Rick nice addition with the forwards.

Thanks man. That is one sweet bike you have.

Bubbas1 yea it included the kit at $324 but the flame peg kit was another $140. Well worth it though.

I got nothing for valentines doubled but I am not complaining.

In the low 60's here today. Going for a ride.:00hour

Spring took a step back this week !!! Hope that PHUKKIN' groundhog knows what he is talking about !!

I know what you mean. Its going to rain here and be in the mid 40s later this week. Not much snow left on the ground to melt. The magic number for me is 50 and the salt is off the road. Just have to make sure I am back home before the sun goes down and the temp drops to the freezing mark.

I rode my bike to work last thurday and it was 48deg that morning and all I had on was jeans and a leather jacket and I about froze my balls off. I can not imagine riding in below freezing weather lol.

Been checking out different pipes for a while now and have decided on vance and hines. staggered duals. Seem to be very popular and I like how they look. What do you guys think and what else would I have to get to make it run right and could the dealer install.
Thanks

Ricknjax...You mean it actually gets down to 48 degrees in Florida?? You need to move someplace warm.:D

Have you checked out the sound of the V&H exhaust? My brother had a set on his bike and couldnt stand them after a long trip. They were to loud for him at cruising speeds. I went with the Screaming Eagles. They are a step quieter. I like them because I can still hear the tunes while cruising but the loudness is there when I want it to be. (Love doing that when going thru highway underpasses) They are also loud enough to set of car alarms when I want to. The wife also has a set on her bike also. We laughed for hours the first time she set off a car alarm with her bike.

Go to the local HD shop and hang around outside. When someone comes rifding in and you like the sound of the bike...all you have to do is ask them what they are running and they will be more than happy to tell you. This way you will get an idea on what to get.

You shouoldnt have to reprogram you bike if you only change out the pipes. If you get a high flow air cleaner added on you then have to remao your bike.

Do not do the canned map from HD. Its to expensive. Get a PowerCommanderII and then have the bike dynoed. You will be set then.

Here are my dyno results. The main thein you want it to get the lines on the bottom of the page (air/fuel mixture) to be as close as possible. Notice mine are a little off at low rpms. It caused some decel pop so I hooked a computer to the PCII and bumped up the low rpm numbers. All is good now.

Jim deep down you know you really want a bike. Admit it you are jealous.

Bubba I was afraid of that so I was also going to get the quiet baffels. Would it still be to loud? I will check out the screaming eagles. Also somewhat concerned of doing anything that they could point to that would void my warranty.

Ricknjax..Will you please give BTJ a ride on your bike so he will stop crying? Just be careful because he might try to give you a reach around.:mj07:

I dont know what the pipes sound like with quiet baffles. Talk to the parts guy at the local HD. Thats what I did to get mine. He explained to me what the sound difference would be and I made my choice that way. It worked out for me. Ask them about ones they dont even sell and you should get an honest answer.
Once you decide what to get check around on prices before you buy from the dealer. You will find them cheaper online and then take them to the dealer for the install.

It was my first major install and the parts guy explained what I needed to know to install them myself.

Rick I don't know if you've changed to a high flow air filter or added a Power Commander but when adding new pipes it would be a good idea.

Also don't pay the dealer $ 4-500 ,depending on shop rate ,to install.Anybody that has ever touched a wrench can install a set of pipes in an afternoon.I'm sure with the instructions and a few ppl to answer your questions you could knock it out and have the extra cash in your pocket.

You are one of a kind Jim. Slinging stuff like that around at people you have no idea about. I am somewhat suprised nobody has ever looked you up. I know It is just your fodder. Pretty funny.

DoubleD I checked out those daisy cutters and they do look good. Thanks

Thanks for the info Intheblack. Doing research I have decided that is the way to go. There is just so many directions kind of mind boggeling. May just say screw it and just put on some slipons for right now to get somemore sound and leave it at that for a while. Looking at the Rush slipons

Bubbus1 will head down to the dealer this weekend and see if I can pry some info out of them and see if they have any used bikes with the pipes I have been looking at so I can hear them. That is a good idea. Riding to work tomorrow. 77deg
