Ricknjax...You mean it actually gets down to 48 degrees in Florida?? You need to move someplace warm.
Have you checked out the sound of the V&H exhaust? My brother had a set on his bike and couldnt stand them after a long trip. They were to loud for him at cruising speeds. I went with the Screaming Eagles. They are a step quieter. I like them because I can still hear the tunes while cruising but the loudness is there when I want it to be. (Love doing that when going thru highway underpasses) They are also loud enough to set of car alarms when I want to. The wife also has a set on her bike also. We laughed for hours the first time she set off a car alarm with her bike.
Go to the local HD shop and hang around outside. When someone comes rifding in and you like the sound of the bike...all you have to do is ask them what they are running and they will be more than happy to tell you. This way you will get an idea on what to get.
You shouoldnt have to reprogram you bike if you only change out the pipes. If you get a high flow air cleaner added on you then have to remao your bike.
Do not do the canned map from HD. Its to expensive. Get a PowerCommanderII and then have the bike dynoed. You will be set then.
Here are my dyno results. The main thein you want it to get the lines on the bottom of the page (air/fuel mixture) to be as close as possible. Notice mine are a little off at low rpms. It caused some decel pop so I hooked a computer to the PCII and bumped up the low rpm numbers. All is good now.
