My banter with FatDaddyCool got me to thinking (hey, I drive 2.5 hours a day, gotta lotta time to think) how subjective music is, and ripping other people for their like of music is kind of pointless. Fun, yes, but pointless. Love and importance of music is pretty much a product of your life and what you've gone through. I thought I would start a thread and ask a few short questions, and see what songs/groups have influenced lives around here, and why. Might be interesting. Might be stupid. I dunno, we'll see. Don't waste a lot of time thinking...I'm sure there are plenty of songs/groups that will come to you if you think long enough. Just have some quick fun with this one.

1. What would you say is "Your Song" (the song that you can most identify with) and why?

2. What artist would you pick to listen to in solitary confinement for one year?

3. What is the one artist/group that is typically considered great/revolutionary/incredible that you just don't get?

4. What is the best concert performance you've ever experienced, and maybe why?

5. Name two artists/groups that have a song that you like, but would never admit it because FatDaddyCool would say you were gay?

That's enough. Not supposed to be a test, just might be fun. Cheers.

1. What would you say is "Your Song" (the song that you can most identify with) and why?

Time For Me To Fly - REO Speedwagon
(The timing and feel of two of my painful breakups, and when I left my kids and moved to another state for the first time.)

2. What artist would you pick to listen to in solitary confinement for one year?
(Probably) James Taylor

3. What is the one artist/group that is typically considered great/revolutionary/incredible that you just don't get?
David Friggin Bowie

4. What is the best concert performance you've ever experienced, and maybe why?
Journey/Doobie Brothers/Kenny Loggins/April Wine at Arrowhead Stadium in KC on a full moon summer night my sophomore year when my parents let me take their car and drive the group for the first time. Just one of those nights, man...really nice date, coming of age thing, I guess.

5. Name two artists/groups that have a song that you like, but would never admit it because FatDaddyCool would say you were gay?
Madonna - Vogue. Hey, I like to dance, and that's a good dance song with the ladies...lol

I appreciate most types of music overall, as I was a DJ for a few years, on my own and in a rock club. Next?

1) Imagine, John Lennon
2) Eagles, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Bob Seger
3) ???
4) I've seen many high profile bands including the
Stones, The Who, and the Eagles, but Garth Brooks was hands down the best performance I've ever seen. Maybe because I was about 30'
from the stage on the side, but he put on a show.
5) Frank Sinatra

Okay. One thing I think we can all agree on is Chadman may just be our first self realized gay poster...................LOL.

Actually, the thread is pretty funny but James Taylor the whole time I am in solitary? I would rather be gang raped by the entire population of "Block H". That being said

StevieD posted Rick Springfield.
Dude, kill yourself........you 'll feel like a hundred pounds of homo has just been lifted off your chest. Seriously, dude, holy crap..............Rick Springfield??????????? Holy crap.

1. What would you say is "Your Song" (the song that you can most identify with) and why? lord its hard to be humble, when your perfect in every way............think that one speaks for itself

2. What artist would you pick to listen to in solitary confinement for one year? Gwen Stefani, just don't know if there would be enough food for both of us in there.

3. What is the one artist/group that is typically considered great/revolutionary/incredible that you just don't get? The Police, it seems I have failed to get them yet. I have missed them with every round so far.......

4. What is the best concert performance you've ever experienced, and maybe why? Alvin Lee with Ten Years After. Saw it is a little smoky bar in Chicago and the guy played friggin three hours. Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin run a very close second.

5. Name two artists/groups that have a song that you like, but would never admit it because FatDaddyCool would say you were gay?

I'm too sexy for my shirt by those two bald flamers.

See, this has already provoked a thought...I've always thought that driving a cab would in some ways be a fun job, except for the a-holes that you would always encounter. You say you met babes, AR...were "cab babes" easy to pick up or meet up with "after your shift"...that kind of thing? I know on "Red Shoe Diaries" that cabbie really scored with a hot chick...(lol). Seems like, especially these days with more people calling a cab and not driving drunk, that it could pay off in some ways.

Leave it to FDC to turn this into a ridicule-fest. Seriously, dude, you have issues. But, you are funny, I gotta give you that...:grins:

But, you can't actually have your artist in the cell with you...otherwise, I would change my pick to Shakira, pronto. Hips especially don't lie, in prison. :moon:

Don't knock being gang-raped by block H, man. That was the "chained heat" cell block, with the big boobied hard rock convict chicks, I think. Rape away, biyatches. :moon:

chad...

i drove a cab while in college during the late 60s & early 70s.....& riding around certain parts of manhattan late at night was similiar to going to clubs. i would pick up a chick or sometimes a group of chicks & they would ask if they could lite up a joint or something similiar while driving in the cab...& of course i would agree....& different scenarios would then happen.....loved that time in my life.

and btw...i once saw james taypor at st. johns university....& although i like some of his music....his show was a complete bore.

Other than Frank Marino of Mahogany Rush, Alvin may be the fastest guitarist and one of the greatest of all time.

Chadman,
All of the above is said in jest bro...............I would be beside myself if my pal StevieD actually offed himself for being a George Michael fan or whoever the tailgunner was that he said he liked. All a joke dude, except the stuff about the French.............I meant all that, but that was a different post.

i've always been partial to clapton....& hendrix as guitar pickers....but lee was truly a great guitarist..

Both very accomplished and talented but so was Tony Iomi (sp?), Rory Gallagher, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore, and even Prince are great.
