Sounds like a lot of us Smiths/Morrissey fans are coming out of the closet. ...As for Justin, well it's hard not to acknowledge 'Sexy back'. Definitely don't WANT to like the guy, but ....

I decided it was okay to like Justin after seeing the video for "Cry Me a River" just b/c it was such a fantastic "F*ck You" video to Britney.

Everyone should at the very least grudgingly respect Timberlake - if only for his "Dick In A Box" SNL sketch. That was hilarious.

great list, Dawgball. Big Keb Mo fan since seeing him perform here at our annual 4th of July Blues Fest a few years back.

Since a few others are admitting that they have always liked the Smiths, I'll "come out of the closet" so to speak and admit I'm a huge fan of Morrisey and the Smiths, too....:mj07:

Have never heard Justin Timberlake's music, but I have much respect for him now after seeing 'Alpha Dog' at the movies a few weeks back. Disturbing subject matter, but well-acted by many in the cast, probably topped by Timberlake's performance...

1. What would you say is "Your Song" (the song that you can most identify with) and why?
WishList - Pearl Jam.

2. What artist would you pick to listen to in solitary confinement for one year?
CAKE

3. What is the one artist/group that is typically considered great/revolutionary/incredible that you just don't get?
The Grateful Dead - You must have to be high to understand their "greatness"

4. What is the best concert performance you've ever experienced, and maybe why?
Pearl Jam, Detroit, MI 1996ish. I just remember walking away from that concert thinking "wow". No special memories or coming of age connection, it was simply the best live performance I had ever seen.

5. Name two artists/groups that have a song that you like, but would never admit it because FatDaddyCool would say you were gay?
Dolly Parton (Islands in the Stream) and Gwen Stefani (Cool)

Nothing wrong with those two songs both are written by Jim Stienman.

Jimmy Buffett

U2

Our 2 and 3 are basically exactly the opposite. I find it amazing that someone as complex and thoughtful as you cannot appreciate U2 on any level. And by the same token, how could someone of your depth be able to tolerate fkn Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise for a year? Sometimes I just don't understand the kosar.

"Something I Can Never Have" by Nine Inch Nails

2. What artist would you pick to listen to in solitary confinement for one year?
R.E.M.

3. What is the one artist/group that is typically considered great/revolutionary/incredible that you just don't get?
Jimmy Buffett, Led Zeppelin

4. What is the best concert performance you've ever experienced, and maybe why?
Best single band was Nirvana in late '93
Best concert was Lollapalooza in summer '94. Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, The Breeders, L7, Tribe Called Qwest (who really impressed me even though I hated rap at the time), and the hidden jewel that, as a 15-year old, I had not heard of at the time... George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars

There's a ton... not ashamed to admit I like a wide range of music, including the kind that makes me "gay" to listen to. But I'd have to say the first three that come to mind are "Vogue", "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and "I Want it That Way"

U2 and Bono, give it a rest please. I beg you. I enjoyed them in the mid 80's with 'Under a Blood Red Sky' and all that, but man. I can appreciate them on *some* level, but they've morphed into caricatures. Bombastic, self-important and annoying.

And Buffett has much more to offer than Cheeseburger in Paradise. Great artist. Nice laid-back music to pass time while you're in the hole for a year. Pretending you're sailing the seas with a boat drink in your hand. Get with it, Smurph.

Well, I admit I chose nobody for the year stint. I can't appreciate anyone enough to handle a year of just them - probably not even U2.

I know this school of thought on U2 - there are many like you who are now annoyed by them. Regarding the self-important thing, please show some examples. Seems all Bono does is try to get food and resources to a starving continent. That seems rather selfless to me, but what do I know? As for the other 3, do they even speak?

What a great concert! I don't remember where I saw it. It was either Cincy or Indy. But, damn. It was great.

You shouldn't leave out The Pharcyde, Luscious Jackson (damn, I loved their bass player), or The Flaming Lips.

Breeders -- Cannonball was as catchy as they come!

i think bono's work with the u.n.has brought the group into the self-important level...if only other groups would have realized this they too would have been knocking on the u.n.'s door....

who would have thought that murray was a parrot head....him & pat riley...go figure.
