The current administration has looted the public coffers of the US to serve multinational business interests. But if you oppose the obvious pilaging then the Bush backing whack jobs claim that you hate America and freedom. What a twisted world we live in.

There was a great article on Dubai in Nat'l Geo a few months ago. The growth and money in that city is insane. ...What's also insane is the manor in which it's being built. They import essentially slave labor from India and Southeast Aisa - they are promised certain wages and then put up in shanty towns outside Dubai and paid almost nothing. Then there's the sex trade. Women are bought or taken from Russia and Southeast Asia and then sold in Dubai. There's a dark side to Dubai that's repuslive and violates everything we should be standing for. But like with Saudi Arabia, we completely turn a blind a eye because of our greed.

For us to then turn around and point to Saddam's trangressions as a reason for us to go to war and spill all this blood makes me nauseas. Even the staunchest neocon Bush supporter has to see the obvious hypocracy is all this. Right??!!! I mean how can we embrace one and kill the other when they are essentially the same? ...and how can we expect the rest of the world to join us when we are such hypocrits?

Hey, Jacko loves it there. They have no problem with child molestors over there, as long as you are wealthy. Money is king, people are garbage.

I am still digesting this one. As many of you know...seeing a headline like this, and then reading a little more about it, is kind of like Christmas morning for me...lol.

I must give this its proper study and due, before I launch into a full diatribe.

When you like doing business with countries we have sanctions on you move your company out of america. Now you don't have to answer to anybody since you are not based in the U.S. Kinda like the six years of those rubber stampers who let this company do what they wanted at the tax payers expense.

Listen to em squall--:)

I think I got the biggest lkck out of Hilliary's comment---

"Does this mean they are going to quit paying taxes in America?" asked Clinton, a US presidential candidate.
:mj07:

Seems to me someone warned about people taking their ball and going elsewhere--Exxon next?

Let em keep harrassing corporate America--and opposing tort reforms and the only commerce left will be prisons and aids research.

One day their political flock will wake up and find out who really provided all those jobs--and it wasn't politicians.

You mean to say that the Republican controlled congress was harrassing Corporate America? Or is this a decision that Halliburton just made on the cuff? Or are you just throwing out some America hating line you read off a neocon blog?

Stevie can you answer me another question so i can die in peace. Why is it okay for this company to steal taxpayer money in the billons and this wasted money seems to be no problem for a guy like DTB but when there is a tax hike he cries tax hike? How come it does not bother him with the billions and billions of wasted tax payer money just being pissed away? I guess what im is asking are taxes from a tax hike a different type of dollar than taxes being stolen by these war profiteering companies?

How much ass do you suggest be kissed just to keep a comapny here who makes all their money from Americans? There isn't enough ass out there. They will always want more. We can't sacrifice every last ounce of dignity just because we are ssssoooo grateful that a corrupt mega corporation is willing to throw a job or 2 our way.

They are prospering because of this country and our people - NOT the other way around. But they and people like you don't see it that way for some reason. If Haliburton wants to leave this country, then fuk em - I for one am not going to kiss their ass and say 'thank you massu' for being nothing more than total pricks capitalizing on our wonderful system and people.

"the bunker"
you know...i also have a bit of a problem with this.....

DISCLAIMER:i`m not going lib here.....with all their ridiculous hate speech laws, a culture of politically-correct taboos, the triumph of emotion over facts and reason, and a "humanistic" government that forces people to live the way "neo"liberals want them to live....

it`s no longer kennedy liberalism......it has morphed into the new authoritarianism.....

and i can understand dtb`s point of view.....that this country is screwing itself by disenfranchising corporate america..... and that`s true.......i agree with that....like it or not, corporate america IS america`s backbone.........

and we do see now where the dems are trying to change the laws regarding secret balloting as it pertains to union voting...trying to allow unions to once again strong arm it`s members into towing the line......very scary stuff....

BUT........ i also see a part of the republican party....the larry kudlow`s of the world.....that see the white house as the residence of the "contractor" in chief...not the commander in chief....

this is apparent in regard to the white house`s stance on the mexican border(even the though the dems are no better(for different reasons).....

and those republicans that think that china should be allowed to undermine our economy and say "let the w.t.o. handle them"....that`s laughable.....

i think that following on the heels of the dubai ports fiasco, that i`d probably be for a little(lot) more oversight on any(all) defense contracts that they receive from the govt.......

as chad said,i need to read a little more....but at first blush,i don`t like this very much....

the people are the backbone. 'corporate america' benefits because of the people and the system in place. everyone gets to share in the dream.

...Larry Kudlow - that guy sounds kinda scary somnetimes.

whatever, tough guy. yeah, i guess i just dreamt my business and it magically appeared.

some of you people seem to have developed a stockholm syndrome towards large corporations. you owe them nothing - your gratitude is shown through the money you spend. they didn't make $ billions by being philanthropists. no need to constantly kiss ass and live in fear of them leaving for cheap labor or more profitable markets. they will do that regardless - it's in their nature.

Lets see who they will run off next--"in defence" of the little guy ;)

We've already discussed drug and oil companies

how about my fav --their assualt on the little persons fav store Walmart--and why because they won't unionize and Dems can't force independents and conservatives to contribute to their campaign fianace via union dues like they do at other companies--You think coincidence that Walmart is venturing into China/India and other countries are friendly to those that provide jobs.

Sponge, I have good and bad news. Bad news, I can't answer your question. Good news, you don't have to die!
Why do they blame the Libs for being PC when the Republicans were in charge for the six years and they had everything their way. How many veto's by Bush during those six years? Just who is harrasing Corporate America?

Who is they and wtf are you talking about? Profits are up %600 for Haliburton since your boy Bush took office and 2005 was the most profitable year in the 86 year history of this company (who has a long history of war profiteering.) Haliburton exposes itself as a multi-national entity who could care less about what is good for America and your position is that "the liberals chased them off." DTB, you have lost your mind. You would obviously put the interests of multi-national corporations above and beyond the interests of America. Corporate whore 1st, American 2nd.
