the interest rate on my credit card just went up to 10.90%...i called them up & the best they can do is lower it to 8.90%..which is also too much.

is there any place where i can find cheaper rates that stay fixed ?

thanks

Debt is a demon, pay them off each month. get interest, do not pay interest. :nono:

Try Capital One:shrug:

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
best place to compare rates is at bankrate.

not sure about finding out which stay fixed the most....

I've been very happy with Capital One's service.
Capital One? Platinum: Prestige MasterCard is 7.90% now.

call back your card co. and tell them you found a better one, tell'em it's their last chance to keep you. Should then get a lower rate.

Exactly. Pay it off every month and you don't have to worry about interest.

Agreed, pay it off each month to avoid debt. However, credit cards can be a very good thing. I have flown for free for 2yrs now and made lots of money with special offers and cash back.

Also, you can always cancel when you don't carry a balance.

not bad for a CC. what do you expect? a lot will give you intro rates that are real low when you transfer your balances to them.

i only use amex and pay off monthly but carry 1 visa for places that don't have amex.

CC balances are :nono:

I posted up a link to a CC discussion forum a while back. With the immense number of cards out there these days, and varying offers each one has... you should really have about 3 different cards in your name to maximize your savings over time.
Between cash back, thank you points, miles/points, free stuff, you should be earning quite a bit by just using your cards at the right places and using the RIGHT card and taking advantage of their offers.

Example - in the past 2 years I have been using a Hilton Hhonors card and maximizing my points to the Hilton hotel chain. I have over 300,000 points there now. That's good for TW0 6 night hotel packages anywhere in the world with no blackout dates. And on my airline miles card, I've got enough for a nice upgrade on an international flight for my wife and I.
Gonna make for a good vacation. Didn't take much work at all.. just use the CC instead of the debit card.

APR should be the last thing you worry about with a credit card.

thanks for the responses guys...

i also mainly use the amex card also & have the awards program with it. i use my cc mainly for when i remodel my houses because some contractors don't take amex.

morris..i am well aware of home equity line of credit...have one.

btw, my belief is that it's not the amount of debt you owe that's important,it's how much you're worth if all of your debt is met.

thanks again guys.

It's not about how much debt you owe that's important - it's about how fast you can gather your liquid assets, sever family ties, and flee the country that is important.
