if that's the singer interview with tiffany, i don't think he should get chit. all the guy did was turn his phone off plus he doesn't speak english plus singer's money was all in anyway.

he wants a refund AND another shot at playing the ME on day 3 or 4

what a goofball :mj07:

tiffany is hot btw :00hour

If it went down as he described it, I think it should be reconsidered. Singer even had a hand declared dead earlier himself because his phone was lying open on the table. If you were in his position, wouldn't you expect the hand to be called dead as soon as the phone was answered (or button pushed)? He screwed up by protesting it before the opponent decided to call but if cell phones aren't allowed to be touched during a hand, there shouldn't be an issue.

i think you're permitted to turn it off if it's ringing.

i had it happen to me many times but i always turned it off by reaching into my pocket without taking it out.

you're not permitted to use the phone. question is; was he using it? i say no and so did the floor.

too late to overturn the decision now. maybe give him a refund but harrah's eats the 10k and keeps the prize pool the same but definitely don't let him back into the tourney. imagine what would happen if he happened to WIN the whole thing after he was eliminated?

I'd like to hear the other guy's side to this story too. Just listening to Singer, I think I agree with him. What's fair is fair... The guy pulled out his ringing/vibrating phone, looked at the display, pushed a button, and then put it back. Sounds like a dead hand to me.

Why even let cell phones in the room? If im playing im leaving my phone at my hotel room.
you pretty much need it at breaks. after so many calls i was getting last year, i just turned it off when i was playing. THAT'S what people should do because you're not supposed to use it anyway. doesn't make sense why people leave it on. not to me anyway.

"Surveillance cameras confirmed that, A) the player in question did not look at his phone, and B) his only action was to silence the phone's ringer and quickly put it back into his pocket."

hmm, that's a little different, but still, sounds like he broke the rules.

very good arguments on both sides.

i think if i was harrah's i would give the dikhead his 10k back, keep the 10k in the prize pool and not let him in for another chance. not that i think he's right, just to shut his ass up and then REALLY make the rule so that there isn't this problem again.

DON'T EVEN TOUCH YOUR PHONE, PERIOD! OR YOUR HAND IS DEAD. NO TOUCHING IT!

there was a guy sitting next to me that had his hand called "dead" 3 times before he finally got the hint and turned the damn thing off.

I like the thread over at 2+2 simply because I think a situation like this, and what side you are on tells a lot about your character.

Anyone who think Singer wasn't angle shooting is crazy. What possible advantage could his opponent have gained by silencing his ringer? NONE!

Singer's money was already in the pot and his opponent called, without gaining an advantage from the phone, sheesh.

i think the floor made the correct decision. the guy was not 'using' his phone except to silence the ringer. personally, i wouldn't have taken the chance but....

also, and i could be mistaken, but singer was AHEAD in the hand when the money went in and he was called. if he objected so badly, why didn't he make a scene BEFORE the hand was played out?

instead of NOW?!

I thought he did call for the floor immediately when the guy went for his phone?

According to what I read he "motioned to the dealer" when his opponent touched his phone and then objected before the turn and river were dealt, calling for the floorman.

THE ONLY gray area I can see is he claims motioning to the dealer tipped off his opponent that he didn't want a call.

I'd still say it is your own responsibility to conceal the value of your hand and that is simply his own fault.

Again, his opponent gained zero advantage by turning off his ringer, if Singer wants to claim that somehow cost him the pot then he is just crazy.

This instance is poor sportsmanship and angle shooting at it's finest.

After Nolan Dalla announced to the crowd that Antonio Tarver was playing, he took the mic and said, "Just so y'all know, this is the only chance you'll have to knock me out."
